I need camshaft ideas!!!!!!!
Hi i have a 2004 GTO 6 speed. i want to run mid to low 11's in the quarter mile with like a 1.8-1.9 60ft. im lookin to go 125mph. i plan on doing a cam, lifters, rods, springs, and eventually rockerarms to stabilize the valvetrain. i also have a k&n intake and pacesetters long tube headers. WHAT SIZE CAM WILL I NEED TO REACH MY GOAL.

Heads r an option
if i were to upgrade the heads it would be to the ls2 or ls6 heads. my friend has a ls6 motor in his 75 corvette with a powerglide behind it and he runs 11.00 @120mph. and he only has this cam in the car with lifters, push rods, springs, headers, and prw rocker arms.

i know that my motor has potential to make 600 hp with a cam. i know his car is 700lb lighter then mine but i think i could get my car pretty close to 11.50

You can see mid 11's cam only, but not a 125 trap speed unless you are spraying or cutting some weight. Dont go out and get a cam just because its radical, alot of time the mid sized/smaller cams will run the same if not better than a huge cam radical cam.

My friend has an 04 GTO 6 speed. Fast intake, pacesetters headers, ported heads, stock gears and a RADICAL cam Trex (242-248 110LSA). He has cut a 1.8 60' with 255/50-16 MT ET Streets. Best pass N/A 12.2 @ 111 mph Good luck man, you'll need it! Car is way too heavy for a big cam, the thing just bogs and falls on its face. The car would run much harder with a smaller cam but hey I can't tell him anything.

I would focus on weight reduction and suspension if you want a cam-only setup to run that quick. It's going to come down to a setup that is properly put together with everything complimenting eachother. That trap is unheard of from a vehicle with say 400-440rwhp at that weight. The cam is just another piece of the puzzle and that recommendation you got is basically a cam I would run in a DD not something to get the best ET and MPH.
Let's say you get a cam in there and the car runs good. Keep in mind you will need slicks to get that 6-speed to hook well, which means your clutch, stock 2-piece driveshaft, and halfshafts among other things will be toast. Cutting a 1.8 or 1.9 sixty isn't going to get that car anywhere close to a low-mid 11 cam-only at stock or near stock weight, going to need to drive the hell out of it and go sub 1.6's IMO. Just saying I think you may be a little ahead of yourself. We have a GTO too so I know these cars really well. They are heavy and have IRS which really makes it hard to reach goals like that especially with an '04.

If I was you get heads first then match it with a good cam there is where you are going to see the power. Then I would have cam motion or vendor on here custom grind you a cam. I dont thing you are going to see 125 mph with out some spray or boost.
My old set up I ran a ms3 cam 239 242 609 lift and a set up patriot stage 3 heads. car ran 11.02 with a 3400 stall@ 119 mph witha performaBuilt 4L60E

The only thing I would tell you is if its a daily driver then you dont want a super radical cam. My car has a pretty good size cam and its not that much fun to drive around.
