Default How much to cut off my rear

I just bought some Weld Rodlites with 5.5" backspacing. Without dropping my 10 bolt thats in place now and setting the wheels under the car to take a measurement, I was wondering if someone could tell me how much to cut off my rear. I will be getting a 9 in very soon or an S60. It shouldn't change the measurement based on which rear I get right?

If the wheel is 10" wide then you will need to order your new rear end 2" on either side. No the measurement will not change based on which rear you buy, but they will narrow to any length you request when you order one.
correct me if I'm wrong anybody.

If you want the wheel sucked in a touch more, you can go 2.5" on each side. Youll have to cut the bump stop brackets off though so the rim/tire doesn't hit when the rear end is hanging.

What he said. I think you would like the way it would sit at 2.5 per side.

that would be a stock thirdgen width at 2" narrowed per side. If you want it to look killer have it narrowed 2.5" to 2.75" per side and it'll tuck really nicely. I run a thirdgen width with 6.5" backspacing rims, so that would be like 3" narrowed per side.
