got back on the removable front end project again...

Built a support structure for each headlight cover. This will ultimately get tied into the crossbar that holds the front bumper...

Also built an upper support for the top of the bumper. Just tacked right now...needs to be final welded

worked some more today....

formed a 1/2 moly tube around the bottom of the bumper...used the front four threaded tabs as mount points for moly tabs I welded on the tube. in the center, I used three dzus fasteners to shore it up

Started on a pull point to tow the car...put it behind the front license plate...I mounted the bottom of the plate on an aluminum piano hinge and used two dzus fasteners up top to secure it

we'll have a dzus tool with us at all times in case the hood has to come off unexpectedly...

Almost finished with this project. I can't believe how stiff the front end came out

Did some things different than most I've seen:
1. Minimized the amount of bars up front. I have the tradiitional crossbar with the "C" tabs, but I've only adding tubing up to the top of the bumper and a 1/2" diagonal brace that goes to a tab where the bumper and fender bolt together.
2. On the shock tower, added a dzus bracket so the hood will attach to that dzus to provide additional rigidity.

Overall picture

Fender Dzus fasteners

hock tower dzus brackets (for hood)

front support

fender dzus brackets
