Default Wheel and tire swap

Here's what I am running at the track

17x9 ZR1 with 245/45R17 in the front
stock painted 16x8 firebird 5 spoke with 28 11.50 bias ply et streets

Here's what I want to run

summit star 15x4 with radial front
summit atar 15x8 with 275/50R15 drag radial (~26inches tall)

Would it be worth the time and money? I don't have the cash to blow on real welds but I want to get back to a 26in tire and some lighter wheels.

Judging by your sig those 28's are probaly killing you. The switch to 26" tires alone should net gains. I have that exact wheel/tire setup your looking to do and it works real well for me. The rear will probaly be about the same weight maybe a tad less but the front will be a decent amount lighter than your ZR1's.

I need to update the sig but add a 224R, ported 241s, 85mm maf, and a 3600 stall. I figure the tire height is what's really killing me. Plus I'm sick of taking the laptop just to change for 28s.

The rears showed up today. Sadly I've got to get them as I get paid. What are you guys running for tires up front. Both brand and size please.

SUM-521-5862PS I did a quick test fit last night and it doesn't appear that I have to do any grinding at this time. That may be a different story though once the brakes heat up. When I get the fronts I'll let you know.

I got the wheels on the car with the nexens up front and hoosier 275/50-15 out back and I have no clearenec issues. No grinding needed even after putting some miles on them. We'll see what it's worth at the track this weekend if the rain holds off.
