Oil Question
Not going to turn this into a "what oil should I use?" Thread.
But, my car is going to race only now, and I got to thinking about how often I should be changing the oil?
I know some guys do it after every T'N'T, but right now I run Mobil 1 and that'll add up quick.
Do I keep the "expensive" stuff, and change less often? Or do I run just conventional and change after every track night or two?
What do you guys do? I'm not doing anything crazy performance wise

I started off with Pennzoil -50 for years. I changed every time out.
It finally hit me throwing away all that spotless oil how stupid it is.
I started going to 10-15-20 pass' and then changing.
Now I'm using 100% syn Moble one, at 1200 HP I change every 25 pass'
It's still spotless, and with 12 qt's in the tank it's not getting worn out.
For a 800 HP car and 100% syn I change every 50 pass'
Good luck,

Depends, nitrous tends to get the oil dirty a little qucker.
If you want to be safe, run it 10 passes, then have an oil analysis done. If they are telling you it's 75% good, next oil run it for 20 passes, see what it says, I'd do this until they're telling you it's at abotu 40 to 30% of it's life and change it.
With nitrous, I'd guess that will be about 35 to 40 runs with stock oil capacity.

Volume makes a difference. My 800 HP bracket car holds 10 qt's.
50 pass' might be a lot on on a 5-6 qt system??
Does anyone know of a local testing center in the RT 66 area.
That would be an interesting test to have done.
All information is good information in my book.
JL, thanks for the suggestion!!

I'm doing it because I'm cheap. If it is says 25 is too long, I'm hurting my stuff.
If it says 25 is still 90%, I'm pissing away money. I never even thought of having it tested.

I emailed them, and the basic test, for $22.50 will give you the oil life.
Of course, they have other tests you can run, but I don't have a need for that.
Enjoy guys!
