Negative impact if bar above pan hard rod is removed?

Negative impact if bar above pan hard rod is removed? The stock stamped steel black bar that is above the pan hard rod, are there any negative impacts by removing it?
I upgraded the stock pan hard rod to a hotchkis bar.
Weight reduction is weight reduction, right?

Took a look at it the other day.
Looks like its rigidly mounted and reinforces the panhard bracket. If it breaks from fatigue life is going to get interesting!

I almost posted this same question the other day, when I removed mine.
I have a friend who has been running without his, no ill effects. He did it to clear his 4" exhaust.
I'm doing it to clear my 'street' exhaust, and to make pulling the exhaust easier.
I don't know how much strength it adds, because it's already bent... Bent things usually tend to flex at the bends anyway...
We'll see... I'll be running without it.

Bret at BMR said its to reinforce the panhard bar mounting point, and he didnt recommend removing it - then again, there are obviously a few people not running theirs, and they have no problems. Id ditch it unless you autox.

i removed mine, did 1.2x 60's with no problems, but my car sees no hard cornering. i also relocated my PHR farther upward on the bracket which reduces the amount of side leverage the bar has on the bracket and its welds
