Default 11.6 Sprayn a 150 shot w/cam slicks & 9inch.......help

So i went to the track with my slicks 28x11.50x16 et streets. my mods are 230/234 cam, ls6 intake, moser 9inch (390 gears), 6 speed, and 150 shot,

first pass i do a nice burnout, stage and launch around 4500 the car bogged down horrible and i got a 2.0 60 foot and ran a 13.0 at 108

next pass i do an even better burnout, stage and launch around 5500 this time, and it bogs down a little less than last time and i get a 1.8 60 foot and run a 12.6 at 106

the next time i want to stop the bogging so i try launching on the spray (that was almost better than s#x) ne way i l leave around 5000 with the juice and it bogs a little but no where near the previous runs my purge is broke so it kicks in a little after launching. ne way lgot a 1.7 60 foot and run a 11.6 at 120

i know my car has more in it, there are guys running cam only and running my nitrous times. what do i have to do? im thinking i should have got 26 inch tires instead of the 28's. i have panhard, sfc's lca's, adj torqe arm. i kept 16 pounds in the tires all night. why is it bogging so much? any help would be appreciated.

next time purg threw the motor so you can get a clean pass seeing your purge noid is broke..you spraying and not purging could of bogged you down some seeing your loading the motor with fuel at first then finaly the n2o is coming in for the right amount of fuel your putting to her..this is only if you are running a wet system..

Also Are you using a 2 step?? If not you need one and a 390 gear and 28 slick you will need to up your rpms and spary a little later off the dig or leave at 4k and have the spary kick in once the clutch is engaged. 6 speeds are tuff to 60 with out a bog.

IMHO, a 2-step will not help with ET - it will help with consistancy and R/T... but you are going for ET here so here is my 2 cents...

If your car is bogging, you either dont have enough tire pressure, or RPM, or both...

As has been said before, purge through the motor (or fix your purge)

Your tire size is fine for the amount of power you're making, and combined with the 3.90s should be a good combo.

I would raise your launch rpm by 200rpm at a time until you find the sweet spot.

Are you planning on spraying out of the hole all the time? or did you only do that to try and cure your bogging issues?

Dont change too many things between passes, as you will not know what worked or what didnt.

As long as your clutch will hold it, I would spray out of the hole all the time.

good luck

thanks 98bluess im thinking bout getting a 2-step but the bad is outweighing the good as far as that, i am going to up my rpm's and still spray off the line c5 pete, im going for time not consistency, i hate the bogging i love the spray off the line, but i need to work on my na times. what 2-step do you have 98bluess?

Do you have headers? Is the car tuned?

yeah i have headers, and a tune, im thinking i need to take some weight out the car, and get some kind of device to pull timing when i spray. its at 25* rite now. i know it has a 10 sec slip in it.

You really need to try a 2 step. the Lingenfelter LNC-003 is what i have and has the N20 2nd stage built into it. With a 3.90 your going to need to spary it off the line or rev it past 6000rpm's or more to loose the bog. Trust me i know. Or you will have to do i light slip on motor if you want a better 60.

With my cam only set up i was leaving the line at 65 to 7000rpm's to get my best 60. and thats with a nine rear and 4.56 gear.

So seeing how you are geared for the spray hit it will a 1xx out of the hole.

What was the DA that day?
Your mph is the most concerning thing to me if you had any reasonable DA. With that cam and 150 shot you gotta be over 500rwhp. I'd expect you to mph 120 on motor with reasonable da.
You can also do with less tire for that gear. With 28's and 3.90's you're just barely better than stock gearing with 26's.

I'm thinking of getting the lnc 002, the car is my daily driver with 160k on it, I'm proud of it so far, I drove an hour and a half to the track, ran 11.5 lastnight and drove home with the ac on. I love the 390 gear but I'm thinking I should have gotn a 26inch tire instead of the 28. is it because I only have 25* of timing why my car is so slow on motor or should I dump it higher at like 6500?

The 26" tire would be better for NA runs, but you might run out of RPMs when on the spray - depending on what your limiter is set at.

If you want to keep spraying your passes, keep the 28" tires, spray out of the hole, and just practice more. Seat time will help you figure out just what your car likes to 60' well.

Good luck

If you bog the car on nitrous it can and will backfire.
A clutch car you better be careful .. blow up that plastic intake and catch the car on fire.

Probably rich thats why it bogs with N20 on.

28" tire with 3.90 gears in a 6 speed will allow for these mphs at rpms in 4th gear

6000 rpm 128mph
6500 rpm 139mph
7000 rpm 150mph

Those are some hefty mph figures, more than I think you'll see a full weight, cam + 150 shot car go.
I'm guessing that cam peaks around 6400-6500.

But again I'd still like to know why the mph was so low.

What track was this run at?

Yeh, that number is odd with what seems to be a stout power set-up...

It would be nice to have a video so we can hear his shifting. Perhaps he is a granny shifter?

the cam is a 230/234 600/604 112+2, it made 505/538 on spray before the cam. i ran at temple academy dragway friday night. i weighed the car a couple of weeks ago and it weighed 3526 empty, idk where to find out what the DA was that day. i really would love to get a 10 second slip out of it, i am now on a limited budget since i just spent 850 on clutch and install. im by far not granny shifting i drive it like its stolen, im going to try it again next saturday night, this time im going to try and get a video for yall, another thing that may be hurting me is im on stock shocks and springs
