Default 26 or 28 ET Drag

I am trying to get some info together. Are most guys running 28" ET drags or do you think a 26" would suffice most of the LS1 modded cars. I am talking on more of a heads and cam type car. With or without N2O. What has been your experience. Thanks, Christopher

depends on your gearing and power band.

a 26 with 3.73's will work far far better than a 28 with 3.73's. but a 26 with 4.56's might run out of gear where a 28 wont.

Here in Texas we always say bigger is better!

Go with the 28's.

I vote for 26's, I think 28's on a conservatively geared H/C car are overkill.

I see streetracers running 28's on the street but they need to overcompensate for racing on cold asphalt. I bet most of the 28"'d street racer guys are undergeared and don't hit low 1.5's at the track.

i can't remember if i told you this when you asked over the weekend so i'll say here.

i think you should try the 26 first, same tire i have 26X11.5X15 at a nice low PSI, you have enough suspension and the right gear to hook it at a decent track I believe.

if you spray, no way the 26 will hold, will need a bigger tire for that.

I ran a 26 x 8.5 and cut 1.50 sixties.

I would go 26 x 10 inch

They will go 1.4's no problem and high 10s in a six speed HCI car with 4.10s

Well it depends.

A 28x9x15 ET Drag is like a narrow 27, so it fits no problem (15x8 rim).

28x10.5x15 stuff does not just go in, you end up having to clearance on the inside to make them fit.

If you can DEAD hook with a 26" slick (hey, how good is your track?) then you're better off with it, gearing issues aside. But, if ya can't hook ya can't hook.

Best 60 ft on them has been 1.41 and best mph has been 125.75 I'm always very close to my 7000 rev limiter though.
