Default Ram air?

Anyone have proof of gains from ram air scoops? Preferably boost shown in the intake. Dyno numbers would also be solid proof. Thanks.

Dyno numbers wont show anything, you are stationary. Chrs1313 setup is proven to be the biggest gain. Factory ram air will show.little to absolutely zero gains.

Dyno numbers in a wind tunnel was my thought of Dyno proof.

No dyno proof but I picked up 3 mph by just adding a ram air scoop.

Great info!!! Back to back track testing is very solid info!

Well my thought would be a boost/vacuum gage that is graduated in very small increments in the intake. I see chris1313 has proof with his readings in the intake track but to back it up intake pressure(inside the manifold) would be more exact, because the TB is still a factor with the air box testing.

I am a full believer and always have been. I am installing a ram air scoop on my track/weekend truck and i was having and disagreement with our mechanic that the ram air scoop will produce "boost" of some level. He has decreed that it does make some HP thanks to Chris's proof, but the more evidence we have the better! Any one have a wind tunnel and dyno we can bring together?

I made my own, very similiar to chrs1313. After scoop I started to see more air across maf, more air in intake manifold (map kpa), more consistant iat's. Worth it to me

On my TBSS I made a low mount intake with the largest filter that I could get made by S&B filters. I dont have a scoop just sits outside of engine bay. It def made a difference moving the filter outside of the hot engine bay. Iats are much more consistant and I hardly get any kind of heat soak....

Well the more air through the MAF is again proof posative that is works and info you can't argue with at all!

How is chris's or yours set up? I am actualy installing a scoop on the hood right above/in front of the TB. Funneling it down to the MAF directly into the TB. I will have a short direct flow from hood into the motor without any restriction or sharp turns.

I saw your pic. I think I understand his from the few he posted in his thread of proof.

Any idea on the computer having any issue compensating for the extra air?

Your will need to adjust your maf for the increased air.

The stock class racers like it because they can have the benefit of hood openings since it's a factory option (and they can't run aftermarket scoops)

Thats where some of the extra power comes from...when you lean out a bit(from what I understand)
But lemme give you my experience with my ssra....

The leaner the better but too lean and boom! The motor will retard the timing and via the knock sensors before that happens but that also means you won't make the extra power.

I am excited because next week they are building a hood on Powerblock just as i am doing. My first try didn't come out right mostly due to not having a roller that was worth a damn. I bought one from a local paint shop and I asked the guy and he claimed they sell them because they work. Well it wasn't solid it didn't work for **** pressing out any air. Anyhow I am sure i could order resin tomorrow and produce a killer hood but i am going to wait till next weekend and see if I can pick up any tips from the show.
