Default Need advice..2000 xtreme vs. Civic Si ?

I have the 2000 Chevy xtreme and looking to swap the 4.3 L v6 for a LS1. My buddy has a 2000 Honda Civic Si with some mods which puts him 250 HP / 140 lbs of torque. My question is this, do you think if i drop the LS1 in the my truck,..(keeping stock) do you think it will beat him at the track ?

My truck:
2000 Chevy Xtreme
weight: 3000 lbs
Traction: slicks, posi, maybe traction bars.
LS1 engine @ 345 HP/ 360 lbs torque

2000 Honda Civic Si:
1.8L gsr block w/ civic type r pistons(12.0-1)
milled & ported head with jun 3 cams
hondata s200 engine management
Integra type r tranny w/lsd and the usual wheels and lowering stuff
250hp at the crank. 140 torque
weight of vehicle 2600 lbs

You should buy a Civic and put an LS1 in it.

why would you go through all the work of putting an ls1 into a fairly new truck? Contact www.machperformance.com and get his turbo or procharger kit for your truck and be done with it...too many hassles the other way IMO and the cool factor of having a turbo s-10 that runs high 12's is much better than an ls1 s-10 that runs high 12's IMO.

You can mod the 4.3L motor to make some decent power. There is a guy in my area with a Heads/cam Extreme running a 125 shot. The truck runs 11's

It wouldn't take much to spank the **** out of an Si. Get yourself some headers, decent exhaust, and a 100 shot. The Civic will be a permanent image in the rear view...
