C5 brakes and 15" skinnies

C5 brakes and 15" skinnies
I have Bogart 15X3.5 skinnies on the front of my camaro and i want to put some slightly larger brakes on the car to help it stop better. I was thinking about doing the C5 brake conversion and was wondering if my skinnies will still clear the brakes if i add a small spacer to it? I know that Bogart can built the wheel to fit over the brakes but i was not thinking at the time..so mine aren't built to fit over larger brakes. I saw some red procharged TransAm on here before with larger WilWood brakes (not drag ones) which appear to be larger than the C5 brakes and still cleared a 15" weld prostar with a small spacer. Thoughts and opinions? Thanks

To throw it out there, have you considered selling your bogarts and re buy for a set that would accomondate for larger brakes?
Also with in regards to skinnies, I definitly notice the ABS kicking in more on a 80 or 100 mph to 0 stop. So if your worried about that, maybe it is time you go back to a stock width rim, or get a Bogart thats wider.
Just throwing it out there as a thought piece.

I kind of want to stick with the Bogarts I have now.. otherwise it would be too much hassle and I’d probably just stick with my stock ls1 brakes. I have Bogart skinnies for drag racing, but my car is a street/strip car so it wouldn’t make sense to get a ‘wider’ Bogart wheel. A 15x4 would use the same skinny tire as my 15x3.5.
Anyways, anybody have tips on how the Corvette C5 brake conversion on an LS1 F-body that will clear skinnies?

What would be the use of increasing clamping force with such a small contact patch? Unless you have a set of "street" wheels that you run on the car for daily driving use you won't decrease your stopping power by going with larger brakes on such a small tire. All it's going to do is lock up and activate the ABS more easily.

Like I said above, it is a street/strip car that I have 17x9.5 ZR1 street wheels for. I would like to improve my braking on the street when im not at the strip with the skinnies, therefore I would like to do the C5 brake conversion.

The C5 rotors are 1" bigger in diameter, so the rotors are ADDing weight.
As for seeing another C5/15" set-up, I doubt it. the rotors are about 13.4" in diameter for C5s. Add in a caliper and I'm not even sure they would clear a 16" wheel, no less a 15". I could be wrong, but want to throw my $.02 into the ring.

I believe I saw that red WS6 at Speed Inc two years ago, maybe the guy is from CO? If you are trying to reach him maybe ask Larry @ Speed Inc.
If you are planning to run C5 brakes then get C5-specific racing wheels I'd think.

Hard to tell. The caliper has SL-6 milled into it. Why don't you see what their site says for that rotor/caliper combo. (I would, but I'm leaving work right now).
You can't even see the caliper in the last photo, so clearance has to be CLOSE! Post up what you find, please.

i would look into just gettin a good vented rotor, better pads and stainless lines. check out the suspension/brake threads. theres a lot of auto x guys thats say thats all you need. i run skinny's too and will go that route.
