Default Can i get into 12.999s ? :)

Hey guys,

I have a 98 A4 Camaro with LT Headers , Dynomax Exhaust , ORY , Rebuilt Tranny (Borg Warner) , Transgo shift kit, 180 thermostat , !spare !jack , SLP Lid

It was tuned basically for the 180 stat + disabled torque management

I ran it with street tires on the žth mile spinning in 1st gear, and got a 13.4 (60ft = 2.186)

I’m planning on the following:

Remove rear Seats
Remove rear safety belts
Remove Passenger seat
Dyno Tune

And I already got a set of Nitto 555R’s will run 18PSI

Can I get into 12’s with these changes? Any other free / cheap mods that I should consider ? (no 3.73’s please I drive it on the highway a lot )

I just need 12.999999 that’s enough

Thanks in advance 

Drain the washer fluid, general weight removal like spare and jack. Rock hard front tires and try 25-26 psi for the NITTO in back, they should grip will and with more air MPH should stay up. Just get a decent burnout.

Flash the converter and see where it gets you.

Do the SLP lid with a K&N Filter, thats fine.

IF emissions is not an issue, or at least get the code tuned out. Remove the AIR pump in the front, its weighs a few pounds.

Also consider a Manual/Capped Exhuast cut out before the exhaust starts to go over the axle hump. Def worth some power.

I went 13.19 w/ a 1998 a4 Z-28 w/ a just no cats and a lid w/ nitto's so i see no problem to hit 12's w/ just the Nitto's and the psi should be @ 18 on the track.

I'd say if you can hook up you'll be in the 12's for sure. Unless the DA is just ridiculous.

Drag radials and you should be there...especially in the fall when cooler air comes.

I have a cutout and as much as I like the sound of it really does not help much at all.

Last time I went to the track I ran a fastest of 12.45 and slowest was a 12.5x. I closed the cutout and ran a 12.49. 60' were real close. I would save my money if I were you.

But with that said no reason you not be in the 12's as long as DA is not too bad. My car ran the times listed in 2000 DA. I can not wait till fall!

this is my timeslip :

60ft 2.130
330 5.832
660 8.827 @ 82.748 mph
1/4th 13.472 @ 104.47 mph

the nittos can hook up pretty well, i'm gonna remove them and keep them at home till the drag season, i decided not to get the k&n filter, just the slp lid, tune and weight reduction

according to another thread in the drag result section, you should take all the aftermarket stuff off, cause it should run 12's bone stock....

Also, when was the last time she got new plugs/wires, fuel filter, etc? I would clean the MAF as well.

That depends on MANY factors Drivetrain, Location, Air Quality/temps, Prep, and the Driver itself.

If your not a Ringer, then do not expect 12.99999

That speed is good for 12.80's with good traction. Another vote for 18 psi on the Nittos, with a good burnout. Keep them in tire bags out of the light to keep them from deteriorating.

Thanks again guys

the temperatures here are crazy , usually around (110-122 F)

stock ones in cold weather run 12's , stock ones here in our region run very high 13's or 14's !
