Arrow New guy going to the track next week, 6 speed help.

Well, weather pending, and as long as a few friends tag along, I'll be running for my first time next tuesday at TNT (They all took out A/C so cruising in 90-105* heat isnt on their to do list ).

Just wondering what RPM you 6 speed guys leave at. I've found (on the street) that 2000-2500 while slipping the clutch usually gets me out of the hole pretty well, as well as any other helpful advice (tire psi, etc.)

Also wouldnt mind anyones guess on what i'd run. Track prep should be good as theres an 1/8 ADRL event in town saturday. my mods are:
-longtubes, true duals dumped before the axle, rebuilt rear with an eaton posi and 3.73s. no lid, intake manifold, or tune yet, coming soon (hopefully this month). Ill be on the stock 245/50-16 street tires with good tread life.

Hoping for at least a 13.3x considering its my first time out, and the weather has been excessively hot and humid the past few weeks (last nights low was 88 ). I'd be ecstatic if i came away with a 12.9999

Thanks for the input in advance

I have had quite a few f-bods, half of them M6's, B4 i modded them I always liked to do a baseline run, pretty much what u are doing..so with street tires, and prepped track, try launching as u are all ready stated..IMO drop ur rear tire pressure to about 26-28 lbs nothing more/less, front tires up on max psi , go around the water box, do a quick burnout and stage..That LS1 intake is gonna hurt u bit,..but Have fun!

Just make sure you have clean fluid in the clutch hydrolics. First time I went out the clutch stuck to the floor after first good burn out.

That's the only way to launch these cars in stock trim. I used to slip it from around 4k to get my best street tire launches.

Advice: Get good at doing clutch jobs, and a 2nd job to pay for them.

Very true. It always looks lik they just spray it all the way across in a never ending line. I might just clean 'em off. No point in lighting up a street tire haha

While it's still hot as ***** out, I think your right. If it drops back into the 70s by then end of the night, I think (if I'm not terrible at getting out of the hole) I can squeak something better out.

Good advice, I didn't think of that. Thanks.

Yeah, I haven't found a real good way of getting this car otu of the hole yet other than slipping. My clutch hates me

Thanks everyone, keep it comin.

Well I detail cars so aside from my VERY firm Textralia and Tick Master I have driven tons of Stock Cars with stock clutches and I have many weld themselves or do the a typical peddal crash.

It is ultimately better to bog the car out the hole as it is not as harsh on the driveline.

If you're trying to be careful with the drivetrain then don't go to the track.

Isn't that what a clutch is for? If it launches better when slipping, slip it. If it launches better when dropping it, drop it. You have options. There is no right or wrong.

I would try all different ways and see which one is best for you and the car. Whatever youre most comfortable doing is usually gonna work the best.
