Default Vidicator VS Magic Sticks

I have been tossing the idea up of putting a blower in my car. Im not sure how well thats going to work out with the money part. Right now Im having fun with the Cam Only but would like to squeeze a bit more out of the car if I could. Iv got the MS4 right now, makes 424/371. Best time todate is 11.71@118. Car is full weight as you can get. I know the cars got more in it but this cam isnt the best choice IMO. After I installed it I loved it but now that Iv read some more I think the Vidicator would have been a better choice maybe. I have no power down low on the street and I see a lot of better times with this cam. Or should I have a custom cam specd?? I like the off the shelf cams for the reason that you can say..Hey this is what I have and it works for me..

Thoughts on the cams? Keep the MS4 or change it up?

Full Weight

6 Speed

4:56s x28in tire

Full Suspesion

I would say to keep the MS4 in it. Save your money for something else. I suggest saving for heads - they're gonna net you better times than simply swapping cams, give you hp AND tq gains across the board (most likely), and benefit forced induction if you do indeed decide to go that route someday

neither of those cams are good FI cams. Get the best flowing heads you can to try and get the most out of your cam, get a nice fast to top it off then decide if you wanna go FI, get your blower and swap the cam out and BAM you will enjoy the best of both worlds.

im personally going for the NA route with my MS4 gonna top it with prc 215s and a fast 102. Got full suspension and 4.56s already. weanna see how far into the 10s i can try and go.

I know both are crap for FI and if I went with a blower Id swap cams for sure, but Im almost thinking of staying N/A until I can afford a blower. Im 21 and work has slowed down a lot for me and its gets tuff to pay for everything that I have now let alone a blower. Right now I have a Fast 90/90 and doing heads was my next plan if I didnt get this blower I had found. Idk its a toss up right now just seeing some thoughts about swapping cams I guess!

I really want James vortech but I thought I was going to have help getting it...My Dad owned me a little bit of money and I was told he had the money and then the blower was mine???

I know the way the car is now it has a lot more in it I just need more seat time. Now that I put Bias Plys on it, my 60s are great but I cant keep it from bogging, tire pressue and launch RPMs..thats what Im testing still.

I get faster and faster everytime I go to the track I just need more time..

Here is my friends 04 M6 GTO Trex cam now with a D1SC @ 10lbs that I tuned. He used to run 12.4's @ 111 mph last year cam only. He's only made 3-4 decents passes this year in his 4000lb pig but has gone 11.32 @ 126 mph with a 1.7 60'. This is all @ 2300' elevation and 3000-4000' density altitude. Everyone said the Trex would suck with the D1SC. His cam setup didn't make **** for torque haha. I really think the weight of your car should decide the size of cam you need. Heavier car works better with smaller-mid cams with more torque. A lighter car will not miss the mid range torque but run faster with higher mph with a bigger cam.

Damn..thats good numbers with the T Rex!

I was going to get a custom cam if I did a blower but off the self with a blower thats good!

How does the smaller cam benefit with heavier cars? Is it the Torque they make and how much faster they make it or what?

You need to chime in here! I was talkin about your rig and proving points..Less is more kinda!

Vindicator here for 2 yrs. 0 problems, no fly cutting here.
10 Sec. cam only car here. 6sp. on a lil 275/50/15 MT DR. Stock untouched 241's. They seem to have a lil more down low then the MS4 and the same top end. Is it worth all the hassle to swap tho....i dunno about that. IMO....take that $$ and put it towards a set of TFS 215's and after that if your still not happy, then swap a cam.
Custom ground is always a good route as well, but it is nice to know what to expect with a proven off the shelf cam.

I say save your money on swapping cams and invest in a set of heads to compliment your MS4..

X2 on what this guy says. Looks like you have enough good parts to make the thing run better the way it is.

tsp set a record with there ms4 a while back. I highly dout you will see much of a difference from just a cam swap.....at the track anyways. If I had a 6 speed I would not of gone with an MS4 for the reason you said, not a lot of power down low. But I am a stalled auto so I stay in the power band the whole time so I chose to go with the MS4 and love it. If you get some nice 215's that will compliment your cam and intake real nice and net some good times. Also you already said the car has more in it, I have seen a couple of your vids and can tell myself your car has more in it as soon as you get it to stop bogging down. Thats just a lot of work to do for minimal differences ya know.
