Default Fuel Cell Placement

Is it legal to have a fuel cell under the hood? I thought I read in rule book that fuel cell must be seperate from driver compartment and seperate from engine bay? I'm seeing people with cells under the hood.

Under the hood is typically a small standalone system for nitrous...not one that runs the car N/A.

Correct.

Also you can run a fuel cell in the engine bay if there is a barrier constructed around it if I recall correctly.

MOST times most street racers take a chance and just remove the washer fluid res. and put it in the nose of the car.

If the cell is outside the framerails then you have to have a cage made out of 1 1/4" tubing around the cell.

That is the whole reason we use that size tubing in our bumper support. That way it is a legal fuel cell enclosure.

You can put the fuel cell in the engine bay. Actually a good idea, it will keep the fire to one end of the car, should that ever happen, also makes a fire suppression system easier to install and deal with if you ever have to use it.

It's perfectly legal to have in the engine bay.

If it's in the engine compartment it still must be between the frame rails or caged like Madman stated...
