Default Rear Coil Springs Help

First of all i would like to say hello to the drag racing enthusiasts out there and i need a little help.

Im building a 96 Formula with a LT1 to be a NHRA Stock Eliminator car. I have already installed a full cage (maybe one day it will run faster than 10's), have a Scotty McClay T200 3 speed tranny, Strange 12 Bolt rear end (4.80 something gear), Strange double adjustable shocks on a 4 corners, and some little extra stuff. This is basically a cam only car with unlimited fuel injection. I can have a slight bore and the crank has to be stock.

Im currently live in WV but the folks and the car are in Houston. Im flying in for Labor Day and wanted to put this rearend in. My question is what springs are you guys running for the rear. Is there a reduced spring weight that lets the car rock back a little more and eat. Im plannin on this thing draggin the rear bumper when it comes off the 2-step.

Is there a difference in springs between a V6 and a small-block?

Thanks for any help that is offered. I really appreciate it. BTW..if anybody needs any parts for a f-body then let me know (ie. T56 tranny, 10 bolt rearend, etc..)

I've always heard the stock rear springs were the best for drag racing, they work on my car pretty good.

Stick with stock springs. I know alot of people running from 8-13 sec cars with stock rears. Its all about suspension tuning/shock settings. Look at onebadws6 on here. 9 sec n/a car and he runs stock springs and qa1's all around, 400 w/brake, 12 bolt, leaves at 4K? i wanna say.

Leave the stock springs in it unless you are going to put coilovers in the rear.

Thanks guys for your help. I guess for now Ill leave the stock stuff in it. Sounds like thats one less thing to buy for this money trap. I should have known a full race car build was gonna drain me, lol. Coming home for labor day and looking forward to getting that new rear installed. Now if i could get all my brake lines made and afford to buy brakes then im good to go.

Thanks for the help once again. Much appreciated

stock springs will work..i think the stock rear spring rate is like 125#s or so which is good.

launching at 4K is one thing. I imagine the super stockers are launching way above that. I'm sure at some point the stock spring has to be upgraded (to what I don't know).

Actually, two steps are allowed in S/E.

Per the 2009 Rulebook, I dont have a copy of the 2010 on-hand.

Section 8A:8 Electrical

Delay Boxes/Devises
"Two-step permitted. Two-step must be foot activated through brake pedal, clutch pedal, or pressure switch. Hand release prohibited. See General Regulations 8:2, 8:8"

I agree a delay box isnt allowed, but a 2-step is.
