Default Running no air filter at track?

Is this worth it to run at track with no air filter? Was going to take it out for a few runs.

It doesn't hurt. I take mine out when I make passes. Do 3 runs with and 3 without. Figure out the average of both and compare.

I've tried it in and out... never saw a big difference. I never oiled my k/n very much though.

IMO, with a stock lid type setup on an f body car.. I think you won't see a huge difference, unless the filter's dirty or something.

Carb type setup.. no way it will run as good with a filter as it will with it off. There's no way to put a big enough filter on to not have it be a choking point.

I usually try it both ways and most the time see about a 1mph gain without the filter, but a few times I lost mph also.

Without...but I use a rubber flange I made with some wire to catch anything big like cigarete wrapers, pieces of paper, small children, etc.

It only takes about a teaspoon of dust / dirt / debris to take out a set of rings so if the track is in a dusty area, you would be wise to run the filter. Just my $0.02

I was going to try taking mine out for a run to see if it nets me the .074 I need for 12s But I have a ssra and it does a good job of collecting sand so idk if its a good idea.

I used to run without a filter every pass UNTIL i sucked a leave up into the MAF and killed to motor halfway down the track.( 0 air flow) caused the motor to stall.

I have always ran with one. I have a K&N I ran out of the oil. Will it hurt to drive my car without oiling my filter. Sorry to hijack the thread..

yeah, i just cant justify runnning without one, i mean i run at nice tracks and all, just dont see it being worth it. I tried it way back in the day and got nothing out of it so i run with it. Now i will say i dont run a front sway bar, but i def see a gain without it!!

I think that would damage the MAF (high probability)

I install SSRA + filter k&n + Lid slp
The gain was 2.8 tenths
With these three mods ... you do not need to remove the filter

I clean the filterk&n every 4 months
