Default What did a gear swap do for your mph?

It's going to be awhile till I get to the track. I just went from 373's to 411's. I've heard of effecting 1/4 mile times substantially, but never heard what happens to your mph at the track. Just curious.

I'm going from 4:10s in the 10 bolt to 4:56s in the 9". I've also taken out some weight so we will see what I gain. Hoping to trap in the high teens or maybe higher.

gear swaps never have substantial gains, its been proven on here time and time again. I wouldn't expect much for the gears themselves you can gain more by running in better DA.

I was also curious to what kind of mph gain I would have by swapping out my 3.23's to 4.10's in my 10 bolt. I'm also a t56 so I think it would help substantially seeing as how bad I'm bogging.

I have seen some gain next to nothing, and some gain 1-2 mph depending on the change.

manual trans car will see gains for sure if putting the car thru the traps at proper rpm

auto trans car will see little to nothing as the converter is most important for performance

How much does it help your 60ft times? I am curious because I am discusing the need for gear changes with taller then stock tires on lifted trucks. I am curious the gains seen with the same tire size because that would give a good indication of what is lost by going to a taller tire.

Thanks.

just like larry said. M6 car like you are a 4.30 to 4.56 is the gear you should run and it will help your 60 a ton as long as you have the tire to match it. And you will be trapping at the end of 4th so your mph should be at least 2mph more.

Default got 4:11's here

I was trapping 115-116 on 26/315 mickys....i went to a hoosier qtp 27x 11.5 now i trap around 119 w/the car in my sig.My 60' was 1.60 on the mickys & i havent got out of the 1.7's w/the hoosiers....but have only made 4 passes on them. All of the above is N/A.I went w/the taller tire to drop my rpm so I could spray a 100- 125 shot
