Default need a little 60ft help [ ls1 mustang ]

My best time was 12.07 @114 with a avg of 1.76 60ft. What i dont get is it takes the wheels up a few inch's but wont do better then a mid 1.7. What am i doing wrong guys

here is a fast run down

1989 notch

car WT - a little over 3000lbs with me and full tank of gas
ls1 powered stock with headers
th400 trans
phoenix 4000 stall
3.55 gears
275 50 15 et street rad - pro stars [ 15 psi ]
tube k memeber
stock 4 cyl front springs [ car sets very high at all times with these, no give it seems]
lower control arms
upper adj arms
rear drag springs with air bag [ 0 psi in air bag last time out ]
strange 10 ways front and rear [ fronts very lite 0 to 1 ] [ rears 5 mid stiff ]

The car seems to dead hook and lift the tires a little, i leave off idle and it hits 4000rpm.

I was told that the ls1 cars with the same setup but 3500lbs can do 1.5- 1.6 so maybe my stall is killing me. If you see anything that might help please let me know.

Best I could manage on a 3.42 set (M6) was 1.8 60' and I was waaaay heavier than you. I think your about where you should be with that gear.

You front end is light and you have enough tire so it will lift and hook. You're not getting into the powerband quick enough is what it sounds like. I'm no expert, but I bet a numerically higher gear would really wake that car up and get it to 60' right.

What size gears are you thinking that i should run, and tire size. Not sure i could run a higher gear with the 26" tall tires.

I now run a tourqer v3 cam and around 400 rwhp but only like 320tq

It sounds like you need to work on tuning your suspension setup to work more efficiently. With the stock cam I'd think 3.55's would be ok but with the V3 your definatly gonna want more gear. Remember in a TH400 your first gear is 2.48:1 where a 4L60 is 3.06:1. Your effective first gear with 3.55's is 8.804 where on a 4L60 car with 3.55's is 10.863. With 4.11's your effective first gear will be 10.1928

Here's a few sites that have helped me figure out my cars that may help you out

Why the stock 4cyl springs up front? I was told to ditch them and pick up drag launch to help transfer weight and leave the stock 4cyls out back W gt shocks or 50/50s

i was told they are a good cheap front drag spring, not sure if its true but there a tall spring, my car sets all the way up in the front, it cant go any higher. I run drag springs in the back and adj drag shocks front and back.

I need to check my pinion ang to make sure its 2-2.5* i think it said

i can get a free set of 3.73 gears, do you think its worth it. I would think with the car kinda light it wont need alot of gear.
