How can you tell if drs are to old and dry?

How can you tell if drs are to old and dry? Just bought a couple used dr hoosiers. Theres alot of tread but im no tire expert and idk how to tell if they are dry or no good. What are some good indications besides inconsistant 60's? Havent been to the track with them yet.

If they sit to long they start to get hard and when they go threw heat cycles they loss there stickiness.The thing to do is try them out and your first bunout do a good one or u can buy this stuff called track bite which u apply to the tire to make it sticky.

IMO older DR always exhibit after a good burn out on the edges that they tend to have a shine to them, glassy looking. Seen this with Nitto's BFG's and M/T. Truely old DR's
Hoosier DR are not that "old" even the earliest production run should be only 2 years old. IMO thats not bad.

Thanks for the replys guys.
Well, I put them on and went for a ride. At first they felt a little bumpy but only for 10 sec. After a while just driving I could hear all the stones and pebbles these things were throwing up (sticky). Then I ended up with the PERFECT oportunety to try them out.
Blackscreammachine, you might know where this is...I was in front of the old norwich state hospital at the lights with 2 lanes. A mustang followed me and I signaled for him to pull up to the lights...he did. Light turned green and no wheel spin AT ALL! It was beautiful. I roasted his *** bad. (ill post it in the street racing forum) but anyway,these tires are deff good. When I got home I looked at them and saw all the rocks stuck to them. Very soft and sticky.
