Default IAT sensor placement

I just put together a 4150 setup(just like the pic) and was wondering where is the best location for the IAT sensor. Mine is currently on the lid and I've seen it relocated like this, but is that the best location to relocate or can I put it somewhere else?????????

To be completely honest. Aside from having at a stock location (distance) which is at the Lid, people most times relocated further down the line. Some companies sell a IAT relocation kit as it helps with colder readings, the computer enriches the fuel to compensate.

IMO that pic has it too close, engine heat/soak may throw off the reading and the PCM may compensate in a way that does not have performance in mind.

You can put that sensor wherever it makes you happy, best place would be somewhere that gets some airflow so the car will know what the outside temp is, or at least in the rough air inlet area.

I used to have mine on the elbow, but now I have it back on the stock locations. When I switched to the 4150 and ditched the elbow I put the IAT back in the stock location. The readings are about the same.

Yes, I would leave it where it is in the stock location. I run an open 4150 and currently trying to figure the most optimal place to mount it

anywhere you want it to be, just make sure its not to close to the throttle body, in your case your good to go.
