legal way to fix this? (kirky seat mounting)
when i bought my car, it was setup for a small driver. well, im the opposite of that, and i had to cut away part of the rear seat bracket on the cage in order to test fit the seat.
i ended up cutting a little too much and there is a 3/4" gap between the new plate and the existing bar end.
just curious what is the legal way to fix this.
do i need to cut the bar all the way back, grind it flush, then weld a whole new bar in? or can i weld a short pipe extension between the new plate and existing bar?

You can add on to that existing pipe and run a support to the seat. Legally it doesn't need to be attached to the seat they just want to make sure the top of the seat doesn't move when your belts are tightened. Personally I'd cut that large tube off and install an adjustable mount, this way if you move the seat again it won't be a problem.

oh cool, i didnt know they even made an adjustable upper seat mount.
ill have to search around to find one that will work well with my setup.
is there one you prefer?
thanks for the help. putting the finishing touches on this car, sure is adding up fast.
but im hoping it will all be worth it soon.
