Thanks!
It was relatively cheap when compare with similar hp LSX builds.
800+hp, 800+tq, 9:1cr carb to pan, ignition, wp etc-turnkey for around 10k used (hardly only start up, never run)
300-350 hit, 8.50 index here I come-driving to the track and back.

I'll venture a guess, and say you won't even need to hit it with that much power. Probably 200 out of the gate off the brake and it will do what you want to do. It might take a little more then that depending on where the weight comes in when the car's done... but I doubt that you'll need 350 worth to do it.
Not that it matters, 350 hit on a 632 is like a 150 hit on a 346 ls motor... the engine won't even know you hit it yet.

its hard to throw much at a big block on the starting line because they make so much torque very quickly.... remember than when doing your power management....
i leave on about 19* and progess it on a 275DR and its still a 1.24 60'
and its on a much smaller 565ci motor.

Race your car!

A solid, repeatable 8.500 car, in the hands of someone that can really chop down the tree will have the ability to win races.
Tek if you can get a 1.69 first gear glide when you get the tranny... it will help with the issures that Ty's talking about. Gonna seem funny on the street with that I'm sure, but it will work better with the power you'll be making.

From what I've learned this past year attending the 8.5 events @ Englishtown, That's what I think it will need to be competitive during the nasty summer air here in N.J. If the car only has 8.5 in the tank at best, we'll be eliminated early. These guys are awesome at these races... The guy who won Shakedown this year is a regular at the 8.5 events. That Chevelle is a 7 second car.

i have 4.10 gears, 275DR and 1.80 1st gear trans from BTE its the top sportsman version.
my theory would be to have a 1 plate and a 1 fogger on the car to be very deadly in the index class.
leave a smaller shot in the plate. 150 or so. something that will make the car go down any track under any condition. then after its fully on progress the large fogger for a huge mph.
you could shoot for a 1.40 60' and have tons of mph rolling out the back door to chase them down and decide whether you want to take the stripe or dump them.

My trans has a 1.74 1st gear and I only have 3:73's in there right now. Just bought a Coan 9" converter. I'm also planning to run the 275 dr's. I'd like to keep the 3:73's for the highway driving, maybe I'll be able to make up some 60' with a bigger initial shot or a progressed initial shot. I like to 60' hard, gonna have to see what works best.
Ty, that's some friggin' hood you have on there!

did coan spec that 9" converter for you? unless they have some tricks to make it much tighter i dont see how that will work.... i havea 9.5" converter and its almost as tight as it can be and i have a smaller tire to hit on the the line and a shorter crank throw.

the hood thats in the sig was off most of this year due to a new driver (dad) he didnt feel comfortable... but i think the big 5" cowl is going back on it this year due to the badassness of it. and of course him being more familiar with the car and how it acts.
what heads you putting on the 632? i'm actually changing heads this winter... they should be in any day this week.

Coan didn't spec it out, I got it used. B4 I bought it I spoke to ATI about a converter and after all the info I gave them they actually suggested a 9". The guy I bought it from said it was behind a 1150hp set up and it stalled at 5k. I got it at a great price so if I need to change it out I should be able to sell it for basically what I paid for it. So you're thinking I'll blow thru it, I guess I'll find out and have more info for the next converter choice.

will probably be good for motor or a small 150 shot. if mine flashed over 4100 i'd burn the tires down to the rims.
the tune up will be pretty touchy once you start sixty footing under 1.25 on that bigger tire especially if its on a rough surface with bad prep.
you'll get it figured out... its only time and money
