Default F body control arm angle

Why does everyone say run your control arms in the lowest hole with relocation brackets? What does that do exactly? I have 3 holes on mine and for 3 years I ran mine in the middle hole and always had 1.30-1.35 60 on 325's MT and always hooking up. Would I have had better 60's if they were in the lower holes? This was when the car was cam only with a lot of nitrous, is it important or more forgiving in a lower hp car or why did my car work if it wasnt right? Is there a certain angle to shoot for when setting up the lower control arms? I am just trying to understand the rear suspension better and what does what and why.

a downward angle of about 2deg is a good starting point...it determines your rear suspension's instant center location...

if the car is lowered any you need to lower the LCA on the rear accordingly...I had to add more holes since mine is lowered quite a bit...

your tq arm, which is essentially the upper arms of a 4 link setup. The angle of these 3 arms, and how these angles interact with each other and the car is what determines the way a car will launch. The shock and spring combination controls how fast the axle moves based on the energy provided to them by the aformentioned angles. read this its quite helpful

2* isnt much at all.... aslong as the rear mount isnt higher than the body mount your good.... keeps it from binding.

You just have to test and use what works best for your car after trying different stuff. I understand that 2 degrees is a good place to start but its not right for everybody. Just like 10 psi in a rear tire is perfect for one car but a similar car may need something different. I cant tell you how many times I have been told by somebody thats not right I read on the internet that you are supposed to do it this way. I usually just respond "OK go ahead do it that way on your car if it works but what I have got is what works best for my car".

In the end you just have to try something and see if it helps or hurts your combo then try something else to see if it helps or hurts and again and again it can end up being a big never ending circle of testing stuff if you want to. These cars are like Harleys I dont think I have ever seen two that were exactly the same except when they were brand new on the dealers lot.
And even if they are exactly the same they can still want something different.

The more angle of the lower bar the shorter/higher your IC becomes and your AS value increases. But too much angle can be a bad thing. The shorter/higher the IC/AS is, the harder the tires will be planted into the pavement but the quicker the chassis settle and then it will unload on the tires. The lower bar pushes the car forward while the upper bar pulls the car upward. Its a balancing act that depends on tires, prep, hp, weight, etc.

the position, length and angle of the TA will effect the car much more than the lca's.
