Default smoking car battery

Not exactly a racing question, but it happened on my race car so here goes. I was charging the battery and forgot about it. Two hours later I walk into the garage and can smell something foul. I immidiately unhooked the battery and disconnected it from the car. It was smoking out of the vent holes and I could here it bubbling and a little bit of water bad bubbled out of the top. Maybe about 15-20 drops, 1/10 of an ounce.
Did I ruin the battery? Is there any chance of it exploding?

Thanks
Ryan

No it should be OK.
The only chance it could explode if you ignite those noxious fumes.
Was this a sealed battery?
If not saeled, next time take caps off & charge at a lower rate.

It was the stock battery in a 94 TA. It has the two vents on the top sides.

Did you think the battery is still ok? Or just that it won't explode.

I am still trying to vent the house out. 15 degrees outside and the wife isn't real happy to have the windows open.

Good thing I don't smoke.

Thanks

Let the battery cool off , it's prolly fine.
Had to "cook" batteries plenty of times to bring them back to life.
