Default Just placed an order for Powertrax locker diff

Well, the car isn't daily driven.

My recent 12.5's have been done on an open rear, yup, one legging it to mid/ low 1.7's

I'm fed up with LSD.

I looked into spools but I still wanted the drivability.

This past weekend I was watching Horsepower TV and they installed a unit in their 70 Nova.

I figured I'd give it a try.

$408.40 shipped to me in 2-4 days
And I got a free T shirt.

I'll keep you all posted.

Intersting find James.

I still have HD LSD in my car.... 10 bolt.. and need to do something different as well.

I was thinking about taking a 3 series open diff carrier and welding all the gears to teh housing thus making it a spool. I'm not sure how well it will hold up though.

I welded up the gears in my old 10 bolt after the posi took a dump. It lasted 1 day after that.

How much did you weld? did you really heat up the surfaces good first? Maybe I can melt the gears to the case with a torch?

ARGH, update!

Well, it arrived and I dropped it off at the shop to get the install.

Well, it didn't fit

The shop called powertrax and informed them I need a 3 series OPEN differential?!?!?!

I spoke with their tech department FIRST and they said I would be fine!!!!

Well, 3 series carriers, open diff's come on 4th gen V6 manual cars and some Y87 equiped V6's

Well, lucky me, one of my v6 people had one and sent it to my shop.

It arrived today and they will finish installing saturday/ monday.

I'll let you all know how it is for street/ track

Damn annoying tech department!!!

Damn I wish I would have read this a couple days ago. Yes you need a carrier out of a v-6er. And hope yours works better than mine. It lasted a couple months. I got sick of how it felt and went back to a posi. Sold it to a buddy with a camed 6 speed on n20. BOOM! First launch and it was in about 50 pieces.
