I've debated the same thing. What's your car run now? Have you thought about running a "slipper style" clutch. I know it might not be the greatest to drive on the street but it can be done.

2.2x short times ran 11.24@128 7 times in a row and that was on a 335/35/17 hoosier drag radial.... i know not on a slick i have them now but had a lifter get trashed.. so its all out and on the ground... so why not

I've debated the same thing and actually was going to pull the trigger on a Th400 a month ago. How often will you be at the track vs on the street? If your going to build it to run at the track then go with the auto if you still plan on toying on the street keep the T56 you will miss the gear rowing.

Getting down the launch and 60' on a M6 is going to be a PITA but it keeps it interesting at the track. Unless your shifting slow as hell seat time will help you get better on any setup.

Sounds like you need a slick and some suspension tuning. **** my 60' foots arent that back and there lousy for what i'm trying to accomplish.

I made the switch from M6 to auto about 2 years ago. Went from running 10.3@138 with a 1.5 short time to a 9.8@142 first pass out(had a few minor engine/boost changes also)

The kicker to me was a $1000 clutch lasting 8000 miles. I really didn't want to be buying a clutch every year. That and I came across an amazing deal on a Rossler th400 with Tbrake.

I will admit the m6 was more fun on the street. But the RMVB and T brake are lots of run at the track. Not to mention how much faster it is.

I would love to have another m6 car to track drive just not one I am trying to run low 9s in. low 11 to mid 10 second m6 car would be fun

It's this simple. If your trying to be competetive, switch. If the car is just to get a number then I wouldn't do it, the rmvb is fun but isn't the same. As someone else mentioned....the damn cost of a t56 for drag racing is just too much for me

Switch.

I made very similar power as you with my 370ci and went 10.70s on motor and 9.90's on a 150 hit with my TH400. My converter was too loose for spray and the 4.33's didn't like the 1/4 though.

I don't think you'd regret it.

Honestly with that power, you will break ALOT of stuff if you try to launch hard with a 6 speed. And youre going to spend alot of time trying to get it dialed in.

Auto's are pretty easy to go fast. If you want a challenge, keep it a 6 sp.

Look into faceplating the trans?? I agree with everyone else though. Any street use I would keep the M6. Track only car go auto.

If you want to go fast go with an auto. If you want to continue to not be a "*****" and row gears but go slower doing it then keep the manual. Autos will turn better ET's than a manual everytime.

Go to a 80e if you drive it on the street.

So what about Lencos or brunos? Any ls guys running them? You get the manual shift, clutch, and less power loss... Just an idea

You can't run a number cuz you suck at driving i'm gussing? Get the auto and leave the manuals to the men..lol Fact is,i have raced many stalled autos at the track and 60 foot as good or better them all i have raced. My 60's is only a low 1.4 but thats good for a 3,700lbs car,i hope to hit 1.3 this year n/a. I don't break **** at all anymore and run close to mid 10's..I don't want to give up the
street driving and lose a mess of gas mi for a few tenths.

I like my manual and I think I am fairly competitive with it. I may faceplate it eventually to help shift quicker

Auto will be more fun at the track, the M6 is more fun on the street. I still have the M6, and have thought about an auto MANY times. But I am not a good driver...waiting an hour or whatever to make a run and miss a shift or fuzz up the launch sucks...worse is the accidental downshift and hearing the motor rev to 5 digit rpms for that split second.

With that said, you have to make the decision. I street drive mine too much, so a three speed no lock up was def out of the question. At that point, the initial investment to an auto w/ OD is big money (for a worth while trans). So the happy medium has been the 28"bias plys and an MSD launch controller. Still not the et I would have with an auto, but way better 60's than on a 26" radial
