Default Vette ownersM6/half tank for traction?

Well everyones knows traction is a slight problem in a M6. Finally got BFG's so that should help. Read somewhere on here? that instead of running empty for traction a half of tank of gas would give more traction to the rear. Would it? if it did do you think you would run faster because you'd hook or the additional weight would offset the advantages of traction.

I'm not a vette owner, but I do run BFG's. If your going to be at the track all day I'd go with 3/8 gas tank full to start. The gas I believe weighs 6lbs per gallon for what's that's worth. The biggest thing I can see helping the launch would be the pressure you want to run in the BFG's. What pressure do you have in mind? What gears you running? 410 RWHP is alot more than I got, but I might be able to give a couple of ideas on the launch, Fred

thanks for the reply. I have not run the Bfgs at the track yet. Last year ran runcraps and just spun the tires. figure I'll run the BFGs at about 20. I'm running stock4.42 gears.

If you are having traction problems at the track, I would try a full tank gas and see what happens, then try lowered levels until you find best amount for traction.

I always raced with the minimum amount of gas possible, with nitto drag radials I glazed the clutch with a stupid 2.0 60' time.

Dont expect much traction with the 97-00 clutch before you wreck it.

I am going to try an almost full tank and see what happens. Running 2.2 on runcraps. Will see if BFG gforce helps. Want to get down to 1.9 at least. Yeah, clutch is on order.

If you are going from a street radial to a drag radial, then I would put 1/4 tank in. Do a good burnout and leave hard. Atleast 3500 rpms Work your way up from there. You may find that the car hooks alot better with just tire

Do not put all that gas in your car! Try 1/4 and tire psi at 18-20 psi, do a smokey burnout and hold on.
