Default Turbo 400 LT1 Gear Ratio for 1/8 or 1/4 Mile or Compromise for Both

Which gear ratio would you choose for either an 1/8 or 1/4 Mile set up? If you had to choose a compromise to run at both distances which ratio would you choose?

About 350HP for now. The car is pretty much stock weight for now. It will eventually get to 500-550HP and go on a diet.

I run a 4.71 for the 1/8, it was originally for N/A 1/4 mile stuff with the 6 speed. Now it works for nitrous 1/8 mile runs. Might still be able to squeek out the 1/4, spinning the motor 600 rpm higher now.

Mine has a TH-400 with 4.30's and a 28" tire. But it all depends on how fast you're going to run and what RPM's you can pull. I try to keep mine under 6,500 and my engine is stock with a cam and headers. It only runs 112 MPH.

What are your times that you run?

My plans are a mess now. They shut down the track down (Irwindale) that I was going to run the car at so I am still up in the air of what to do for a gear now as I am not sure if I will be building an 1/8, 1/4 or combo car now!

irwindale is shut down?? I moved from Upland about a year ago, born and raised hanging out at irwindale. what's the deal with that? pic in my sig is at irwindale, avatar is at fontucky.

i have a continental converter, a 5600 8" converter that hits super hard and runs really efficient. you'll be pleased with yours!

That run was 12.151. But my engine is dead. The tune is far off and the knock sensor is retarding the hell out of the timing. If I had 50 more horsepower I'd run out of gear in the 1/4 mile. My 60's are also way off as I can't hold the car with the brakes. So I need to do some more work, like add a line lock and wire up the trannie brake. It's a work in progress Right now I'm moving the seat back so I can get in and out. It's hell to fight an old body.
