Best drag tire on a stock 9.5 ws-6 rim to hold 500rwhp
looking for advice, I decided to just use my stock 9.5 rim for my drag purposes for now since I dont itend to grind my fresh powsercoated calipers to run 15x10s my question is whats a good drag radial for a 6 speed car with 500hp on a 9.5 rim I am not sure how wide I can go on a 9.5
also whats a good front tire to run with it on the same 9.5 rim.
I would like tires that I can drive to the strip with and drive home

MT ET Streets (bias ply)
Hoosier Drag radials I think I heard work decent with a manual bos ?
MT DragRadials don't work that great with manual tranny (sidewalls stiff) soI understand.

My 275/40R17 (26") M/T et street radials hooked hard enough to break the wheel studs. My 295/45R17 (28") et steet radials broke front u-joint & transmission case. 3800 lb car & 5k clutch dumps didn't work for me lol It hooked though. Both are on C5 ZO6 17x9.5s

For the front i just used a cheap 275/40. Sumitumo I think? It would lift them a little bit if everything worked right.
I've mixed bias on the rear & radials on the front before without any major noticable problems

All the manufacturer's say "NEVER", but I am comfortable with a bias ply front and a radial rear (at least in the "old days"). You will feel alot of "push" on the front though. You would definitely not want to run a radial front with a bias ply rear. The front "bite" of a radial front makes the rear bias ply want to come around in a quick maneuver.
I am putting a track package together of bias ply fronts and rears since I am also running an M6. You need some side wall flex with an M6 that you don't get with a drag radial. If you go full slick, you do want a stiff wall though. An M6 is very hard on a regular wall slick in such a heavy car.
... just my 2 cents.

My track setup ... Weld RT-S's ... 26x7.5-15 M/T Sportsman 8-ply fronts are ready to be mounted .... 27x11.5-15 Hoosier QTP will be on the way soon and will probably move up to an 28x10.5-15S (stiff) M/T ET Drag once I get the suspension sorted out.

thanks or the input brian, are bias plys ok to drive about 45 miutes to the strip? I may run bias plies front and back, I wont be using slicks cause I want to stay DOT legal for any street shootout classes they run.
my car wasnt built for all out drag race so having the BEST 60 is not important but spinning threw third is LOL

We are talking about a set of dedicated 15" drag wheels correct? "RENE'S RAGE" is right, I don't think you will be able to hook with a 17" at this power level either.

By the way "82cetuner", what kind of torque are you making with your 418 and where in the rpm range is it? My 402's peak rwt of 497 ft-lbs spans from 4650-4750 rpm's and over 400 ft-lbs from 3,000+. Like I said, I have alot of shake down runs to do and trust me, I won't be dumping the clutch at that 4700 rpm the first time out.
