Default Need some launching help.

I went to the 1/8th mile track yesterday and was kind of upset with the numbers. See my sig for mods. I would expect to see 1.60 60fts with my set up all motor. The best I have been ale to get is a 1.78 I have friends that are running 1.80 on nittos with a stock rear stock clutch and similar mods. I am running M/T 26X10 ET Drags and had 18psi in them cold which came up to about 20psi once they got hot. On the 1.78 60ft I left the line at 5500 rpm and I am almost positive it didn't spin at all. The car leaves pretty had but seems to bog right after the launch and then picks back up again. I dynoed around 375hp and 362ftlbs. I then did two runs on the bottle with a 100shot I left at about 4900 rpm and cut a 1.62 ft I would expet to be running this all motor. So if anyone has any ideas on how I could improve my 60 fts feel free to educate me. Thanks Jessie

This is where Harlon's two-step really comes in for the M6. Good bet you are not "flooring" it intially and the car hasn't caught up with the launch yet.

With a 2-step you can set it at your launch rpm. Hold the gas to the floor, it will maintain the pre-set launch rpm and when your release your clutch it will launch hard.

You may want to raise your launch rpm's to 6000. With your cam you should easily be able to do that. It also sounds like you have a well prep track that can hold a 5500 rpm launch on 20psi M/T. Our track is the *****. You can't launch anything at any time .

I always thought someone should invent this. What great idea.

I will check it out to see if I can afford it.....

For $135, you can't afford not to have it for an M6 at the track. More consistent launches means more consistent times. Not only did it help my 60' times, but reaction times. Why? Because I no longer have to look at the tach to make sure my RPM's are up to where I want to launch at.
