Default Those with roll bars, keep airbags?

Just kinda curious, all of the guys who have 6 point roll bars in your car, do you still have airbags? After the roll bar install, my dash will be coming out. I am thinking of pulling the airbags out while I am at it. The car will be primarily a fun street car, but will see the track, and will have the power to run in the 10s.

I ditched my passenger side when I pulled the HVAC from behind the dash.
While you're putting a 6pt in, might as well ditch the factory crash bars inside the door, since the ones on the new roll bar are MUCH MUCH better.

Might are gone but I also did an aftermarket steering wheel. Still have to get the stock door bars out but that is on the list.

but a harness isn't legal on the street

Imo if your going to street drive the car they should be left in. There's just too many idiots on the road. Mine are still in and I plan to keep it that way.

It's your car though, and it would be a good excuse to get a nicer steering wheel

My only fear with leaving mine in is coming down hard from being on too wheels. That would suck 2 blown air backs, a broken dash and windshield and an oil pan and headers lol

I was pulling my gauge cluster and noticed the light was pulled. I remember I pulled the bulb when I did the last motor swap, so out they come.

I didn't know harnesses weren't legal on the street. I was planning on ditching my factory belts for 5 points. Cops in DFW love to give no seat belt tickets. Hopefully I can get away with a harness for a seat belt and avoid a ticket.

When I say primarily a street car, it will mainly be a weekend warrior/cruiser. I DDed the car for 7 years, that was enough for me. The car might see 1000 miles a year street use.

Airbags are pretty useless with a properly-fitting 5-point harness.

Not only that, but airbags + full face helmet = bad.

I'll look into that, hopefully some have the cam lock feature.

Yes, there are, but none of them are SFI-approved. I'd get the SFI-approved harness and "risk" the ticket.

I came across this DOT approved 4 point harness.

http://www.schrothracing.com/store/t...allye/rallye-4

At what time does NHRA require a 5 point harness?

Honestly, if you get stopped, and are wearing a 5 pt harness, I think the seat belt ticket is the last thing that you really need to be concerned with don't ya think? At that point, there's surly plenty of other reasons to give you a hard time, I'd rather get the seat belt ticket then have them start looking at the car....

That was my thinking anyway.

True, but the car has been far from emissions legal for the past 5 years, and I have never had a problem out of the many times I've been stopped. TX cops seem to be more concerned with seatbelt tickets than emissions tickets. I have to make sure I avoid all emissions checkpoints though. I've had cops follow me for miles and never pull me over. People I know that have followed me always comment on the exhaust smell, so I know the cops smell it too.

It's one of those things about owning a car like this.

Have to do what YOU want to do in the long run with the car.

I personally don't have mine but then again mine is far from a cruiser although the new nitrous stall is heaven compared to the all motor stall

I say take em out, and rock the 5 points. I just usually use the shoulder straps when I drive around and leave the lap belts undone.
