Default Staging?

What does it mean when someone can "stage" better than someone else?

I really don't understand the question.

Rolling into the beams maybe?

there is a deep staging, where u go onto the second light deep, almost till it cuts off, and there is shallow which is barely triping the second light. i have heard its better to stage shallow. but im no pro, there are many guys here who know better than i do

If a racer chooses to stage either shallow, medium or deep, The racer must stage the same distance everytime for good R/T's and consistant E/T's.

If a racer stages the exact same way everytime and the other racer doesn't, well that would make one racer a better stager than the other.

That's my take on the subject.

Gotcha... I guess personally I don't worry about it that much. I try to get it in the middle of the stage, but don't worry really if I am shallower or deeper. LoL... maybe why my times are so eratic sometimes!!!

Well the reason I asked was because I was reading someones post in the Multimedia section about how a lady can stage better than most people and usually take them out of the hole. Sorry bout the confusing stuff.

Well if you actually want a better ET, then ALWAYS stage as shallow as you can. It gives you a head start on the beams and the timer wont start for about a foot or so. You may or may not be more consistent with your R/T's. You just have to change when you leave...2nd amber, 3rd etc. It just takes practice.

yeah, if u stage shallow u can leave a little earler and not have to worry about it, but if u stage deep u have to worry about red lighting

And how high off the ground are the beams? What diameter front tire? How much air pressure? Do you have front end stagger?

All change your roll out.

Tom,

Just pointing out that roll out is often different from track to track. Also slight changes in car set up will have a big effect on reaction time. If you are .498 red a change of two psi in the front tires will put you back in the green. That is if you can stage and launch the car the same each time. But, if you are only running test and tune events, it doesn't really matter.

Best Regards,

Daren
