Default Camaro396's Budget Street/Strip Camaro Build

Well after years of regretting selling my NBM Cam Only Camaro Z28 build, I decided it's time to pick up another F body. This one won't be as bad as the NBM car was, but my goal is to put something together fairly cheap to go out and run some mid 11s in and have fun with, for a reasonable amount of cash. I have an 04 Cobra that I've been having fun with at the track for the last couple of years, but it's too clean and to low mile to be getting hammered on all the time.

The car is a 1998 Camaro Z28. I picked it up a few weeks ago and it's 100% stock 1 owner car. Pretty clean inside and out, which is what I wanted. The plan is to do some bolt ons over the winter and hit the track in the spring. I've already received some parts, others I'm still waiting on.

Pacesetter Ceramic Coated LT Headers (Have)
TSP 3" ORY Pipe (Have)
Dynomax 3" Bullet Off Y Pipe (Have)
Fast 102/102 setup
SLP Flowpac Ram Air kit
NX System (Not Sure which kit yet?)
Yank SS4000 Converter (Ordered From Texas-Speed)
Derale Deep Finned 4l60e Trans Pan (Have)
Flexalite 10x20 -6AN Transmission Fluid Cooler (Have)
-6 Pushlock AN feed and return hoses with black Fragola fittings (Have)
BMR tubular 4l60e crossmemeber with TA relocation mount
Motive 3.73 Gear
Weld Weldstar RT Wheels 15x10/15x4 with MT Drag Radials (Have)

I also plan to improve the plain Z28 look a little bit as well. Exterior mods include:

New OEM Headlights to replace faded foggy stock ones
SLP Bowtie Grill
VFN Sunoco Hood
SS Spoiler

Here's some pictures of the car as I got it.

And with some nicer wheels on it:

Start of removal of stock junk:

Some parts arrival:

Check back for updates!!

Nice car. After seeing what you did with your blue car I can't imagine what you will be doing with this one.

Looks good so far! Never heard of those wheels before. Are the centers really bolted to the hoop? Or is it a simulated bolt together deal?

Thanks. They are the same as the Weld RTS wheel, only these are a three piece true bolted together design, rather than a welded construction like the RTS.

That's pretty cool, I'll have to look in to them. Seems like they are similar to a bogart, where you could bolt the hoop on the backside of the hub, making the back spacing set in further.

Very clean car.
How many miles.

If you don't mind me asking, what did you pay for the car?

Nice car! It's crazy how a new set of wheels and tires really chance the look of a car.

Thanks sir. I was 17 when I built that car and didn't have near the budget I would've liked to, working part time while going to school, but I worked with what I had. Fortunatly I'm 23 now and a little further along in life with my career and can hopefully make some impressive things happen with this car down the road.

Thanks sir. It actually has around 100k on it, but you'd never know it looking at it. Came from Virgina.

I too often go back and visit those threads. I wish I still had that car something fierce. I actually had everything set up to go out to Oklahoma and purchase my blue car back from the current owner, but he fagged out on me the day before I was supposed to come out to get it and apparently wants to keep it now. So I said F it and bought this one instead.

I paid in the 5k range for it. It's not perfect, but I feel I got a pretty good deal.

Forgot to mention in my last comment, but he actually sold his car shortly after I sold mine. We both suck.

I look at the old threads all the time! I do not have my car any longer, although I'm working on a putting a truck engine into a notcback foxbody with a turbo.

Lance, too bad we didn't keep any of our old ls1 parts. We could have a 10second car put together in no time.

New fronts are here. Pay no attention to these disgusting stock brakes. New drilled/slotted rotors and new calipars on the way.
