Default What should it run?? 98Z totally stock A4 2.73s

Went to the track tonight and ran this car for the first time. Totally stock 98Z with 110k miles never had a wrench on it, A4 with 2.73 gears.Loaded car with t-tops ,pwr seat,3/4 tank of gas and driver weight of 275 lbs. Car went a best of 14.15 @ 100.15mph with a 2.20 60ft. I have some 3.42 gears and a Yank stealth 2600 conv, and HPP3 and want to do all the free mods. Wanted to get some baseline runs to compare before and after. What kind of improvements should I expect?? Thanks Floyd

sounds like you need to work on the launch a bit. and put some new plugs and wires. im sure there past due.

I agree that it probably could use some fresh plugs and wires, although it runs perfectly and still gets 26mpg hwy. Keep in mind that my race weight was probably around 3750-3800 lbs, 3/4 tank gas,I weigh 275lbs! As far as the launch it does not spin a tire, I foot brake to 1000rpms and matt it on last yellow. I know the 2.73s are killing me and the soft launch of the stock converter. I wanted to basline the car before making any parts changes! This is a 110,000 mile car, I was just curious if this is typical times for a heavy high mile 2.73 A4 bone stock? I have aquired a HPP3 , 3.42 gears, and a Yank stealth 2600 conv. all for $325.00, I will do all the free mods also! I'm hoping to get the car into the 12s on a budget. Hopefully these parts and a fresh tune will get me on my way! Any comments appreciated. Any other high milers out there?? This is my first experience with a LS1, I'm an old scool drag racer Big blocks , big cams, big carbs and gears, not real savvy with all the hi-tech stuff! Thanks Floyd

A friend of mine used to have a stock 99z28 A4 with 2:73s, street tires, 30k on the odo. It ran 13.9@103. It never spun the tires at the track either.
