!Rear seat carpeted panel pics
I know most guys remove the rear seats to drop weight for the strip.
But it looks like *** so I made a carpeted panel to sort of give the rear a more finished look.
Made from thin under layment and I hinged the vertical plates and then carpeted it.
Only weighs about 5lbs.

Same question as the Z28kid98.............How much did it cost to make the panel with the carpet attached? Is that stock carpet in your car or lightweight? The panel looks exceptional well and dressess up the rear area. Again, good work. Cheers....

Thanks for the compliments guys.
I had some thin paneling laying around. Not sure how much it costs but probably not much. Can pickup that stuff at the Home Depot.
I made it from 3 pieces. The 2 panel pieces that follow the floor hump are hinged to the backside of the main panel so it's easy to take in and out of the car.
I just picked up some of that cheap auto carpeting at Autozone and stabled it to the back of the panels.
I didn't save the templates. I made this a while ago but never took any pics until now(Just bought a camera).
I just made the templates from cardboard, cutting it and taping it until it fit nice and then transferred the templates to the paneling and cut it with a jigsaw.
I think you could make it for under 25$ no problem.
The rest of the carpeting in the car is factory with all the sound deadener removed. That weighs in at 25lbs.

Thanks for the reply. The craftsmanship from the pictures look superb. I am thinking serious of doing this to my car. This would be a great interior mod to remove at track and reinstalled after the track run to keep the car from looking ghetto. Again, thanks for reply.

You know it would also be a real cool place to put some speakers...it would look real good with some 10"s in there. You could even put an amp right in the middle, and make you some quick disconnects so that it could be easily removed at the track. I like it a lot.

that looks great, i started making somthing simmilar out of white aluminum. But then igave up on it when i threw somthing back there (helmet i think) and it bent.
I did make a little cover for the very back neer the t-top holder. it came out nice.
Nice work, it deffinetly looks good.

Do you have any plans to get carpet that matches the interior better? Most audio shops have access to carpet that is almost identical to what GM uses. I used it all the time to make amp racks for the back deck.

My interior is sort of 2 tone. Black and gray. And the car is black.
So black carpeting looks Ok on it IMO.
Plus the stock seats will be replaced with some black racing seats.
Maybe someday I might recarpet it with a closer color match.
But right now I have way to many other things to be done first.
