Default Launching tips for A4 and street tires

What is the best 60' time I can realistically expect? I'm thinking 2.0 but I'm not sure. I am having Speed Inc install a TCI 3500 TC, Shift kit, tranny cooler and Nitto 555R DR soon but I think I'm gonna run this Tuesday at Rt. 66 with my stock setup one more time. I had a best 60' of 2.1 and that was basically just mashing the gas off idle. It was 90+ degrees that day so the heat hurt my times but probably helped my launch with minimal spin.

Forcast is for 70 degrees and partly cloudly so the weather should be better this time around. I'm hoping for a 13.2 but I know it'll take a solid 2.0 60' to get that. I'm gonna try 35 psi in the back and full 44 in the front. Sound ok?

Now the real question, launching. stock tires, stock verter and 3.23 gears should I flash stall off idle again or try going off 1500 rpms or so?

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Finally, I have some advice to give. 1st time I ran, I had the PSI at abou 35-40 in the back, I ran 13.7@103. Next time I went I put it down to about 22 PSI and stalled it at 1500 rpms(stock converter) and I ran 13.6@104. Dropped my reaction from .667 to .348 doing that too. I have 2.73s in the back so you should do a bit better. I've been told that 2.73s to 3.23s it's not much of a difference. I think it's about 1 1/2 car lengths off the line. I ran a guy that had the same mods as me only he had 3.23s. Right from take off he had my by about 1 car. OH, and I also just mashed it when the light hit green. I was told to gradually go WOT in 1st. I stayed peeling out a bit. That's all I can say.

I footbraked my friend's cars and rolled out super fast. 1.97-2.05's and the cars went 12.85 and 13.05 with ftra, cutout, lid, filter and jack/spare removed. Better to get a wee bit of spin the cars ran a lot better.

I've gotten a 2.00 from the original Goodyears at 27 psi and launching at 1000 rpm, but I have a stock convertor. As long as you can roll into the throttle after the weight has transferred to the back, you should be able to knock down a 2.0 maybe even a 1.9 with practice! Good luck, and hopefully no

These cars were a 2000 Form and a 2000 TA and they both had stock converters and GSC's.

I went 12.85@110 in the Formula... crispy air two springs ago at US41. 13.05@109 for the TA. TA guy did go 12.97 that day.

damn, no matter how much of a burnout I cannot just floor it out of the hole, without spinning and sliding. I normally roll out of the hole and floor it on pure feeling, if I hit that sweetspot I'll cut 1.8s resulting in 12.6 to low 12.7. I dont even try to hold the brake and stall the car up anymore...hmm maybe i should try it now that I have nothing to lose except tire tread! Oh on street tires and stock I would brake stall it to 1000 or at least try. good luck.

Just wanted to update you guys. I went to the track last night and cut a new best that's in my sig. I hit a best of 2.0 and that was with no preloading the drivetrain. I just waited for the green light, released the brake and floored it. It was actually minimal spin as I seemed to hook up right off the bat.

The next run I tried leaving at about 1300 or so rpm's. I was hoping for the magical 1.9 60' but I wasn't even close. I floored it again and this time my a$$ was all over the place. I couldn't tell if I was racing or dancing. I had to let off the gas and abort the run. I ended with a 2.4 60' time that ended in an embarassing 14.4 @ 103.

I figured since I could get away with going WOT out of the hole off idle I could do it with the rpm's raised to 1300 but I was WRONG! Lesson learned. Next time I will have some Nitto 555R's in the back and I'll be looking for 12.9 after the big burnout (if I can get one more cool air night to run that is).

Thanks for the advice guys. I'm pretty happy with my times. I had a previous best of 13.5 @ 103 on a 2.1 60' on street tires. Now I got a best of 13.1 @ 106 on a 2.0 60' on some really bald street tires.
