what will i trap on a 27' tire
Help me out here Ive searched and came up with nothing. Ive tried gear calculators but nothing has been close. Apparently a daily drive a jet or something.
So what is the max I can trap on a 27" hoosier qtp. My car is bolt-ons, with a 125 shot, roughly 450-460 whp on spray, full weight, 4.11 rear gears, stock t-56 gearing. Right now my limiter is 6400. Should I leave my limiter there or bump it up some. My car is stock long block so Idk how high I'd want to spin my stock valve train. Obviously I want to be crossing the traps in 4th gear as close to peak power as possibly. On a dyno my peak power was 5900-6100 rpm but I know Ill have to come out of peak to get through the traps in 4th.

good call, just looks at my dyno sheet. My peak torque is at 4600 rpm my peak power was at 5400 and held steady to 5800. My spray run is kinda sloppy due to a slipping clutch, that has since been taken car of.
Im more concerned about getting through the traps in 4th gear. On a 26" drag radial, i needed 5th gear and only went 11.86@117 which is pretty awful. I was in 5th gear for what i would say 100-150' guesstimate. And it caused my plugs to foul up and misfire. Too much load for an overdrive gear from what Ive been told.

Yeah I see what you mean. I may be way off here, but I don't think having your rev limiter at 6400 rpm is a good idea. I mean if you miss a shift at say 6k then your car is spinning at 6400 on spray...that's already over revving as it is then you have the hit from the spray to boot. What rpm's do you shift at?

i have a window switch and the spray shuts of at 6100. I usually try to shift 6200-6300. I was only shifting at 6200-6300 to try and get through the traps in 4th which evidently wasnt physically possible on my 26" dr. If I can get away with shifting at 6100 before my spray shuts off and still get through the traps in 4th that may be my best bet.

This is why you don't put 4.10's in a bolt-on car. Not enough rpm to use them....and not a good enough rear to utilize the gear.
When I had 4.10's I could only go 122 with a stock height tire at 6800.
