Default 98 Camaro Build

I've been racing this car for at least 12 years and have over 7500 passes on it. It has had a S&W cage with bars ran thru the shock towers. My motor blew a few weeks ago and since I had it apart I figured it would be a good time to do some upgrades on it.
Plan is to cut off all the factory front except the main frame and cut those front cage bars out and have it go strait from the top of the firewall and catch a plate that holds the shocks and then run another tube down behind the shock.
Make one piece front clip and make it easy to work on.
Rewire everything.
Add fuel cell.

I started a weight reduction thread and I guess this one will pick up where that one left off except I am not weighing every single thing I cut out. I am for sure taking it to the scales as soon as it is back together.
Here is the link to that thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/drag-raci...light-car.html

About the last time racing in it back in June 2015

Here is my starting point. Not much left on the front anyway.

Getting started cutting the front off.

It ended up being about 60lbs that I cut out. Of course some will have to be added back. Still got more cutting to do. I want these shock towers out of there all the way. and those bars will be redone.

Did you say 7500 passes? lol

That seems a little crazy. If you bought the car brand new, you would have had to have made 8-9 passes a week, every week for the last 17 years!

Oh yeah. Sometimes it gets almost 30 passes a day. It gets double entered in multiple classes(pro, sportsman, street legal, quick 16 etc.) up to 3 days a week. I haven't been racing that much lately, but this car has been down the track a lot. probably more than that.

I had a local shop put in the S&W cage. If I had it to do over, I would have had the bar go closer to the ttop because it hits my helmet unless my seat is on the floor. It is CM. Here is a pic of the cage when it was first done:

Thanks, I redid the wiring once before, but I used off parts store stuff to put it back together. Figured I would make it nicer this time since I have a better understanding of the wiring now. The main goal at this point is to make it easier to work on.
