Default MT ET drag radial, DOT tire, or Slick

I am putting down 440+ to the rear wheels. I have 16" ET Streets now and want to go to a 15" tire. I can wait for the new MT Drag Radial if needed. Although they are an unknow tire right now.

What would you run on the rear?

Thanks for any help.

I was talking with the tech guys at Mickey Thompson saturday at the track. They said the new radial will be "stickier" but less repeatable on launches. He said I should stick with the ET Streets if I bracket race. Said all sizes will be shipping by June.

Thanks for the info. This si what I am afraid of. I don't want to be the test mule for these and end up worse off.

What drag radial is not going to be less "repeatable" then a non radial tire? If you want a drag radial DOT tire MT is the best one. You really cant compare them. Car Craft or someone did a shoot out between the two and the DR 60ft'd better then the non radial car on a 11 sec car. PSCA guys put over 1000hp to the MT DR tire and go high 8's on a 275/60/15

I'm ready for a set to mount on my new Bogarts. We'll see how they perform. Should be nice.

I was just talking to the MT reps at a Jobber show yesterday, say the new Drag radial its interesting. I think its softer than the Nittos but looks like plastic. They won't have a good selection of sizes until June.

Anyways he said at the track the ET streets were a better choice and the DR's really don't hang. He said where the Drag radials excell is comparing to BFG's (didn't mention Nittos) he said on there test car did MUCH better than the BFG DR's.

I went ahead and got some ET streets instead of the DRs after talking to him.

Just what I heard.

Do you daily drive on the ET streets or just change the tires at the track?

Slicks will always hook better than DOT's or drag radials.

The softer the drag radial, the shorter their life.

Nittos are going to last the longest, but they are a compromise tire.
