Default QA1 question...

I just installed my rear QA1's. When I got the shocks, for the top part there were two nuts. one thin one and then a thick one. I didn't use the thin one and i reused the stock rubber upper mount with the thicker nut on top. What was that thinner nut for? I now have what seems like a grinding sound, but i don't know if that's the shocks or the tires rubbing now(325/50/15's). They never rubbed on acceleration before. Only going around a corner and getting on the gas a bit. Thanks

I used the small thin nut as a locking nut- on top of the thick nut..
