Default lever cutoff through taillight

Have any of you guys put the push off lever style cutoff switch through the taillight? I was thinking of doing this so I can just get a spare taillight and replace it when I'm not on the track so theres no holes.

I did it on my camaro, I don't think I have any pics though. I went through the reverse section that doesn't use a bulb. Put a grommet in there as well. Getting the angle correct takes some time so it doesn't bind as I mounted my switch on the rail. If you built a tall mount so the rod was level it wouldn't be an issue.

On another car (not a f-body but the same logic applies), I used a slotted bracket for the switch to allow vertical movement and make sure the rod is straight when you mark your hole as well as the drill when you make the hole...I made the hole slightly larger to allow free movement of the rod after the grommets are installed.

On my Trans Am, I put it right below the taillight.

Put a rod end on the lever and you can put it wherever you like without having it bind.

Thanks. I'm going to be using the flaming river lever. I may just build a platform to mount it on to get it leveled with the taillight.

Mine has a rod end and it will still bind slightly. The amount of travel on the switch and the angles it passes through the tail light makes it inevitable.
