Well I just figured there might be certain rules so that not just anyone is running next to other cars and putting others and themselves in danger.... I guess the best way would be to call the track I want to go to and see what they say lol.
Anyways thanks for the help guys

All my times running at they track I have NEVER been asked for a license etc. Even when I was racing and looked younger they never questioned me. I'm 99.999% sure that you don't need one to race at a track.
Just go and run the car, you'll be fine. Worst they can do is say no, which they won't.

my local track checks for valid drivers license when you sign the release , last time I went a buddy was with me to race and when I said he would need to get out his license he said it had expired a few weeks ago , I said well hopefully they don't notice the expiration date , they did no racing for him. So it depends on the track. Under 18 would need parental consent form.
AS for other stuff that can stop you at least here you have to have a snell 2005 or newer helmet to run faster than 13.99 and you said you have a ragtop I believe for a ragtop 13.49 is the cutoff with no rollbar , a different friend got shut down for running 13.2's with his ragtop with no roll bar. Tech usually focuses on good tires no broken glass , windows that roll up , no missing wheel studs , coolant overflow functional , drivers seat belt functional , car wont start in gear , battery held down securely if in engine bay , in a case vented to outside if in trunk. this would be the stuff I see for cars in the 12-13 sec range it gets stricter as you get quicker but that should cover to 11.49 or 11.99 depending nhra or ihra track. Also no shorts at my track even had to loan a buddy duct tape once to patch up holey knees in his jeans so he could race lol.
You also mentioned insurance , there is pretty much no insurance coverage at the track , once you sign the waiver and damage is on you to your vehicle whether you cause it or the guy in the other lane does , there are drag race specific policies but they cost beyond most casual racers means

Yes...cause all those 8-15 year old Jr. Dragsters have a license
I'm thinking the top will be an issue depending on how bad.
Seen some pretty scary **** on Friday nite Test-n-Tunes....I don't do Fridays anymore.
Regular nuts and washers on wheels that didn't fit right (wrong bolt pattern) was a pretty good one.

God help you if anything, ANYTHING happens with you driving the car. No license, no insurance, racing on the highway....boy you can sure **** yourself for the rest of your life if an accident happens.
Yeah, a jr dragster really compares to an fbody running the 1/4

Some are into the high 6's 1/8 mile.
And I've never seen them ask for a license unless it was a 9.99 or faster car. (NHRA License)
Maybe it's only at SACTIONED events they ask for it ?

I was referring to street/grudge nights (wed &fri nites at my track) I imagine test & tune sat is similar , the sanctioned stuff is on sundays - never been.
I imagine from the posts in this thread it differs widely depending on your track and if its a loosely organized event or not , try posting what you will need in your local section forum on here and specify which track your planning on racing at , I think its a safe bet that LS1 tech members are present at every track in this country lol
