saving with the ebrake?
i still a newb with drag racing but i was talkin with my brother in law and he was talkin about if you start to lose it to pull the ebrake right quick and let off it and then get back onto the gas when you're straight...i don't see/understand what pulling the ebrake would do if you start to swerve or fish tail. is this bs or just something to keep in the back of my mind?

That's an interesting theory.
In theory if you put a little drag on the rear tires they would want to go slower than the front. This would cause them to drag into line with the front. Again that's the theory. The reality could be something else.
If you pulled the e-brake too much you could lock up your rear tires and that could make the problem worse!
Getting back into the gas after you get out of shape is fine if you area pro racing for big money. If your not a pro or racing for big money just back out of it. If you are just racing for bragging rights (ego) why take chances? Ego's are self repairing car aren't.
I have seen racers make the problem when they try to "peddle it". Go back and try to figure out what the problem is. Did something break? Improper driving style?

Not saying your brother is right or wrong but if I listened to a 1/10th of the **** people have said to do that don't do it themselves I'd end up wrapped around a tree or hitting a wall. Try to learn from seasoned drag racers with similar platforms and setups.

I've never heard of doing that but I've had myself in some near death experiences I've drove out of. I couldn't begin to explain a technique. I would just go off of instinct I would think going out of your comfort zone in a hairy situation wouldn't go over well.
