Default TH400 vs M6 part 3 (results)

here is the other thread i started about it.

well i just got back from the track with the TH400. previously by best time with the M6 was 11.88, 1.88 60ft at 118.80. then i installed the TH400 and did nothing else to the car. everything exactly the same, tune, gears, everything, not even an oil change. went to san antonio raceway last night and ran 3 NA runs back to back. best time was a 11.74 with with a 1.72 60ft and a 118.92 mph. i am very glad that the car went faster but i was kind of confused with the results. i know that the track might of not been to sticky because i didn't fell like i was hooking to good. other people were complaning also so i knew that i could of gotting a better 60ft. i was expecting 1.60s area but 1.70s is all i could pull. keep in mind that my suspention is completely bone stock but i figured with an auto i should atleast get 1.60s. i was way off with the mph i got though. i was positive that i would of lost at least 2 and get somewhere around 116 or so but this was not the case. it seemed to still pull up on the top end. so i figure that 118 on an auto should be good for 11.50s or so but i just got to get the 60s down a bit. to make a comparasen on how the track was not hooken. i sprayed the 150 just after those runs and my 60 slowed down to 1.83 as i spun all through first and second gear. then in third i finally got to hook up and went 11.03 at 130. so in the end, with my results a TH400 is only good for .1 better in the 60 and 1/4 ET and mph will stay the same.

oh yea. the car also lost 20lbs between the trannys or mabe i did. it was down to 3414 with me in it. i did have to remove my center consle though in order to clear the shifter but i dont think that weighs that much.

Great results.

Todd(owner of SAR) was racing with us last night at Sealy(Lone Star Raceway. That maybe the reason the track wasn't very good.

thats what is was hehe. hopefully i can get that 60 down a bit further. on the last run, i spun so hard that i hit the limiter on the spray and destroyed one head. i got a pic on the nitrous section. oh well next time around it will be better.

just as an update, i found out that the tranny i used was slipping the whole time. i pulled the pan and found lots of metal and clutch material in the filter which has not been changed in some time. i put in a new filter and deeper pan and went for a cruz. no more problems found. she shifts alot quicker now and does not hit the limiter between shifts like before. so maybe there is more to come from the swap. unfortanently hitting the limiter bettween shifts on the spray took out a cylinder head. now i put on a set of stockers and am planing to go back to the track. ofcoarse it will be with less power but ohh well. if i can still hit low 12s with better 60s i will still be happy.
