A4 low 1.6 to 1.5 60ft. guys! Share your launch info?
How do you guys prep your tires,RR airbag and how long of a burnout do you do? Do you burnout in D and let it shift itself while doing the burnout and how far do you let it shift before letting off? top of 2nd gear or 3rd gear? or do you put it in 2nd gear for your burnout?
Alot of folks need some insight on this subject and thought i would start a topic on it. SHARE your info! Lately my local track has not been good to me with 60fts. in the high 1.6s Gotta get my groove back!

When I had my A4, I just left it in 2nd and put 15-17 psi in the air bag and the burn out on nitto's was about 8-9 sec's and just rolled out of it (slicks it doesn't take much to get these sticky)(street use VHT) Track if its preped then your straight....

I always just leave it in 2nd. I make sure I get em wet(spin em over in the box) then get out of the water and get the slicks smoking for a good 7-10 seconds. I always let the car move forward for the last couple of seconds to try to keep the slicks from picking up sand or water. I bring the r's as high as I can without the converter overpowering the tires and then just let it rip on the last yellow. I've ran consistant 1.52-1.54's. I have the front left hal at #2, right front on #1, left rear on #4 and right rear on #5. That gives me the least amount of twist on launch and gives me my best 60ft. Not bad for an internaly stock motor

I run my tires @ 15-18 psi (ET streets)
I blip the throttle to get ties wet all the way around. Put it in low gear & start cooking until I feel the tires grabbing & smokin'. then I roll through heavy on the gas & stage. I bring my foot off the pedal about 2 in. & stomp it to the floor in route to another high 1.5 sixty. BTW I run a Vig 3200. Hope this helps.
P.S. Running @ HRP doesn't hurt

well on my nittos(20-21psi) i go around water box, back right into the front of where the water ends and burnout for 5 secs or so.. in other words till i see nice smoke...
then i stall up to like 1000rpms and when its time to go i have a slight babyish off the line then i punch it... i cut 1.62-1.64 everytime
why do i baby it? cause i dont wanna blow rear yet and plus the nittos are reaching there max holding abilty
wouldnt doubt if the nittos would hold a 1.5x 60 either

I had a day when I caught the track well prepped, & got a 1.521, 1.518, 1.504, and then hotlaped to a 1.518. I should have waited as long as I could before running the car again, I think I could of had a 1.49.
This was with a fresh set of ET's & BRR LCA. Eibach sport springs, poly TA bushing. I need to upgrade to a new TA, to help me plant better.

This past Sunday
1.53
1.55
Track was not prepped at all
Front Hals 3/3
V6 springs in back might be hurting
No air in airbag would have liked to try some
ET Streets at 15ps
2nd gear burnout and shift into 3rd and roll out.
Shallow stage
rpms at 2800 for the 1.53 I bet 3200 would get me a 1.49

I have the front Hals at 1 and the Hoosiers in between 12-15 psi.
do a 8-10 second burnout in drive, linelock assisted. I smokem up until the tree. I know if I'm going to hook good if the airdamn hits the ground when I let off coming out of the burnout. In that case I will forget about reaction time and stall it up until the tires start to give. I let off the brake, wait for the car to initially lunge from the rpms I stalled it to, and then I stab the throttle. I have pulled a 1.53 using this method.
later,

DriveaTA: thats exactly what i do ... i forgot to mention when i start my burnout ill roll ahead out of the water box totally and then hit the brakes and set and burn them out till i see nice white smoke... im still surprised at what these nittos can hold when hot!

i do what 98taauto does.
nittos-
around the box (even with skinnies), back into it. i like to roll out of the water box a bit then. then i just heat them up till they smoke for a couple seconds...then let off the brake and roll into the throttle more and basically do a huge burnout on the dry part- that makes sure they are nice and hot.
then i roll into the throttle off the line cause the nittos only hook so much.
hals in back are set stiffer than stock, and fronts were about 1, would have like to try them stiffer though. Vig 3200 and bolt ons and nittos got me 1.55s about all day.
*nittos to about 20 psi.
