I've holesawed everything removed the back seat bumper supports hvac abs cut all the brackets out swapped k member and control arms. What are the big chunks of weight on these cars. I'm thinking either seats, brakes, or back glass. What's the biggest chunk. My 6 point is about to go in and I want to counteract the 80lbs I'm putting in it. Between it and the new iron block Id hate to weigh it now. I'm planning to cut out the t top and spare tire wells also.

Brakes are a big one and are bolt on. What kind of posi are you running? Switching to a spool can be worth 20-25 pounds. Wheels and tires, ebrake, stereo/amp/speakers/wiring.

I've got some racestars for the track and I plan to keep my radio haha. I have the mwc billet clutch posi but I bought a spool a while back just never swapped it over. I was afraid of how it would be on the street. I don't drive it a lot but it does make a 2 hour trip to the track one way. Think the spool would get me killed?

I drive my spool on the street all the time, 0 issues and forget I even have one. I wouldn't think twice about it.

Spools are awesome. No issue driving mine. It bucks a little around corners but that's it.

What about rain? I get caught in it from time to time. If rain is manageable I'll throw it in there. I really need to go back to my 410s from the 430s with the 408 anyway.

How about the front spindles? Sound deaden? Rear wheel tubs? Tube the front after the strut mount. Running coil overs all the way around? Running a fuel cell? Light weight fuel hoses and fittings? Took out the door bars? Took out unnecessary wiring? Lighten your headlights and tail lights? Plexiglass for your hatch window? Fiberglass or carbon fiber hood, hatch, doors, t tops, and bumpers? Maybe extreme but ways to get rid of weight.

The Racestar wheels are crazy heavy, especially for drag use. A good set of wheels like Billet Specialties Street Lite or Comp5, or maybe the Weld RT-S series would be great choices. USA made, high quality, and light weight.

Next will be brakes for sure. It is over 50% reduction in weight, and like the wheels it is rotating weight which equals free hp.

A set of Optic Armor windows is a 50 pound reduction for front and rear.

Power steering to manual rack is a good deal of savings as well.

I wouldn't remove the t-top tub. After researching it, I think it only saves 11 lbs after you figure out the metal that go's back in to close it back up. I keep my nitrous bottle in the spare tire tub. The one on the left doesn't really save anything. As far as the spool goes I've been driving on mine for about 4 years now no problem. I don't really drive my car in the rain though. If I get caught in the rain I just drive like and old man. Driving on slicks are a bigger issue. I've been thinking of doing a lithium battery. Taking 30 lbs off the front of the car sounds like a no brainier. I think I'm doing brakes after that then the rear glass for lexan.

Cut the t top well out, get rid of door speakers or rears, dash metal, power ant, alot of mods to do b4 spending $.

Rear speakers and power antenna are gone. Entire under dash is gutted. I didn't cut anything while I had it out tho. Just removed all the HVAC stuff and made a small defrost box. How does the optic armor do with windshield wipers, I wanna keep those and I messed up buying the racestars, they were cheap and I didn't really think about the weight difference. And how does the manual rack compare to a looped stock rack? I tried the looped for a couple days and it was miserable.

Nope, I drive my car a lot so I don't think it will be a problem, though I did consider it. We'll see what happens when I get it and how it behaves - I'm not even sure how it will work for me since I have an aftermarket stereo too. I just figured I'd give it a chance at $100 more than a parts store battery for 30+ pound savings.

this, i will elaborate on this. my 17x4.5 racestars with the m&h radials were 32lbs, my 17x7 tt2 with a nitto invo on them are only 35. not worth it. they are 17s but still not worth it. sold them and currently looking for another drag wheel, that will be 15" this time

The 17x4.5 street lite wheel is 14 pounds, the 15x3.5 wheel is 10 pounds.

Ever weigh the pro street radial by hoosier? (26x7.5x17) They are heavy little bastards but ride good.
