Default Kuwait : Stage 3 Heads + 226 Cam + 4.56 + M6 = 11.1s @ 124 with 346 c.i. (long)

Hi all ,

Yes , its a new best ..... that was great , I am happy with this results , I am sure their are more and more in this car especially that still the weather not very cold as I want , today the weather was around 50F and less ..... I supposed to go to the track when it wasaround 45F and less .

Its now a week since I started my passes in the track .... I was going to the track every day to test the car with different circumstances ......

my mods in my previous best (11.61s @ +120 mph) that I did it in feb. 2001 : CompCam 212/218 , CompCam (pushrods , retiners , valve springs) , Direct flo Lid , GMAF , K&N , MACs , Borla , 3.73&4.10 , Centerforce Clutch , Aluminum FlyWheel (12 lb) and ASP Pullyes .

The changes in my passes this week were the following : ARE Stage III Heads ( 2.08 , 1.6 ) , Lunati Cam 226 .554 114 , LS6 Intake , Cartek Clutch , got back to my stock steel flywheel , ARE ported Throttle Body , BG RamAir -for WS6 cars only- , MSD 8.5 wires , NGK TR55 , Hotchkis adj. Panhard and Control Arm , Blisten Shoks , BMR TB bypass , Holley filter and 4.10&4.56 Gear Ratio ...... I think its enough mods to get the E.T. that I got it !!

The different circumstances that I did were through three steps

1) 4.10 + 26" E.T. Streets 2) 4.56 + 26" E.T. Streets 3) 4.56 + 28" E.T. Streets ...... and with every step , I try with A)full weight -nothing removed at all- and B) Light weight that the race weight be less than 3300 lb with remove the following parts :

- Remove front bumper reinforcement
- Remove rear bumper reinforcement
- Remove passenger seat
- Remove back seat
- Remove all Seatbelts
- Remove front hotchkis swaybar
- Remove AC compressor & condenser
- Remove rear interior panels w/ speaker
- Remove jack and spare tire
- 1/4 tank of gas

Big Thanks to Stephen ( Colonel ) , Mark ( 1madss ) & John ( Pro Stock John ) for this ideas about removing those stuff from the car .

I was thinking to open my headers but alot of guys didn't recommend that , also I am very sorry that I coulden't be able to install long tubes headers , so I am still with my mid lingth headers ( MAC ) .

Well , I will just put The best results of each circumstance , here you go :

Note: I got alot of passes in each situation , It was through 6 days , I was going to the track every day .... as I said I will just put the best of each one :

1) 4.10 + 26" E.T. Streets :

A) With Full Weight :

This was in my very first day to the track after installing all this stuff ..... any way , after alot of runs, my best was :

60' : 01.636s
1/8 : 07.381s @ 095.789 mph
1/4 : 11.440s @ 122.320 mph

between 1/8 & 1/4 4.059s and 26.531 mph

My best trap speed was 122.516 mph

I was Happy , WOOOOW , I didn't expect that E.T.s with full weight , That was great for the first day , especially I know that the car will do better with lighter weight .

B) With less than 3300 lb:

That was in the 2nd day , I said its better to remove the weight and get some passes and then change the gear ratio .... my best was :

60' : 01.615s
1/8 : 07.283s @ 097.568 mph
1/4 : 11.285s @ 124.380 mph

between 1/8 & 1/4 4.002s and 26.812 mph

My best trap speed was 124.986 mph - verrrrrry close to 125 mph daaaaaaam -

Yeeeehhaaaaaa ...... thats was AWESOME , more than what I expect , always this car makes a not expecting results ...... My best with cam 212/218 only with this weight and 4.10 was 11.61s @ + 120 mph , now , after heads and new cam and intake and clutch and ram air system and other few things I got 11.28s @ + 124 mhp with same gear ratio and weight .... that mean I got more than .3s and around 4 mph in 11s from this stuff ..... that was great .

2) 4.56 + 28" E.T. Streets :

In the morning of 3rd day we spend some houres to install the new 4.56 gear ratio in my car ..... daaaam , the car now is not a street car at all , very fast shifts and you can't drive it into street , very boring .

We installed my friend's 28" E.T. streets tires , I was afraid that the car will not be fast with 28" like 26" .... but the results were great .

A) With less than 3300 lb:

Now 4th day , Since I remove the parts to get lighter weight in 2nd day , I kept the car without all those parts , so , the weight was very light , and I got my best of the best after few passes of the day , here is the best :

60' : 01.610s
1/8 : 07.237s @ 098.117 mph
1/4 : [/b]11.197s @ 124.118 mph[/b]

between 1/8 & 1/4 3.965s and 26.001 mph

My best trap speed was : 124.201 mph

That was the best . I tried alot after this pass to get deep into 11.1 , but I coulden't ... any way , I'll wait until better weather and then go to get some new bests Inshalla ..... I love our sea level , its coooooooool .

Any way , about 4.56 ( from my experince , its good for 1/8 mile only ).... I didn't feel that their was a big different , but that was maybe because this day the weather was 60F comparing to 55F in 2nd day , but if we see to 1/8 mile , it the different was OK , but if we saw to 1/4 mile we will see that I just gained .08s from changing the gear ratio , and as you can see I didn't gained any mph from swaping the gear ratio , I don't know why , but I remember that the car was pulling hard in 1/8 mile and until near to 120 mph , and then I was feel that the car was keeping pull but very slow near to 124 mph , although I was still in 4th gear , for that I think this is the reason why I didn't gained any mph , if those 4.56 could complete pulling hard until the end that could be 11.1s and maybe better ..... I see that the mph between 4.10 and 4.56 were same , as you can read for those numbers .

B) With Full Weight :

I spend the morning to reput the parts that were removed from the car , so now the car is with full weight ....... got some passes and that was the best :

60' : 01.628s
1/8 : 07.346s @ 096.805 mph
1/4 : 11.394s @ 122.341 mph

between 1/8 & 1/4 4.048s and 25.536 mph

My best trap speed was 122.516 mph

3) 4.56 + 26" E.T. Streets :

Finally , after getting those great times , we decided to install the 26" E.T. streets tires to test the 4.56 with 26" tires , We knew that we will shift to 5th in the 1/4 mile with this gear ratio and 26" tires , but we tried it , now after just a 3 passes with full weight , here is the best :

60' : 01.622s
1/8 : 07.377s @ 096.220 mph
1/4 : 11.658s @ 119.814 mph

Between 1/8 and 1/4 4.281s and 23.594 mph

As you can see , it was really a bad idea to shift to 5th , it killed the engine ...... and you can see the numbers .

Between 4.10 and 4.56 in 1/8 mile

If we saw to the results between this tow gear ratios in 1/4 mile we will see that they are likely same , maybe 4.56 is better in time , but in mph they are same , but in 1/8 mile we will see that their is a not bad different , here you go :

with 3300 lb
4.10 : 07.283s @ 097.568 mph
4.56 : 07.237s @ 098.117 mph

with full wight
4.10 : 07.381s @ 095.789 mph
4.56 : 07.346s @ 096.805 mph

That what happened to me , and don't forget that 4.56 times were with 28" tires .... and you know what that mean !

P.J. This was with my stock 10 bolts , I don't know when this rear end want to say byyyyyeeeee ...... but 12-bolt will be on order sooooon inshalla .

About my 60'

As you saw , my best 60' was 1.61 ..... I don't know why ..... in Feb. 2001 when I got my best 11.61 , it was 1.59s . Great 60' with just a small cam like what I had ( 212/218 ) , and that was with stock sesp. . In this time I got heads and larger cam , and control arm and panhard and Shocks , and with all of this stuff I got 1.61s ..... it was sopposed to be at least 1.58s ..... I think I have to get more practises about launchs to get better 60' and that will give better Times Inshalla .

All in all

My best was 1.61s @ 11.197s @ 124.118 mph and my best mph was 124.586 mph , thanks God for that great results , I am happy . Inshalla their will be better results , I am waiting for the wether to be around 45F and less at night , and Maybe I will get Long Tube headers , Sure that will give me more mph ..... and maybe next time I will run with open headers .

Alot asked me to run with some nitrous , but I don't like it , I love N/A cars and N/A times ....

To the next track visit inshalla , I wish to you all the good luck and take care guys .

Thank you for reading this thread and God bless you all

Well its no wonder you've gone so fast, you don't miss a detail!

I'm wondering how your car compares to others in the region? Did you weigh the car after you had taken the stuff out of it?

I know you've been at this for a while and more amazing is everyone here has someone local to help them out and work with them, you've done it over 5000 miles, even more impressive.

Congrats!

Wow, your car is fast! I am truely amazed that your 10 bolt held up for more than one 1.6 60 ft with 4.56 gears. I broke my stock rear 3 times with 4.10's!

Now that was an informative post.
thanks for taking the time to try out all those combos. That was some EXCELLENT info.

Could the bigger cam be hurting your low end torque there by hurting your 60's?

Or... are your tires just incapable of holding your new found power? Please consider some E.t. drags... ANY tire slippage is bad for E.T.

work on that 60' and as it falls so will your e.t.'s.

Congrats on the killer times.

(Remove the front bumper supports.... hmmmmmm, it wouldnt be hard. decisions, decisions.)

P.S., I still have the rear panels and speakers, front bumper supports, door bars, drivers side air bag... lots of weight to remove... but i just cant make my self do it. Maybe for one nights BANZAI runs.

Killer times Abdullah.

I would say keep testing new stuff but I think you got them all in!

Great numbers!

Glad everything worked out good in the end for you.

Congrats Abdulla. Your testing is the best with all the options you give. Your car is definitely a beast and I'm sure you'll be down near 11.0's with some better 60's.
