Cam is 239/258 on a 112. Brian feels it will breathe well up top with this combination where I want it to live.
The only thing really left on the engine is to degree the cam. I took a couple week vacation and I'll be back in town on the 25th to get that knocked out and get started on the chassis.
I'm still hoping to get the entire project done and have my new trailer by LS Fest at the latest. We'll see what happens.

What amount of drag would you be looking for? Did you want it on the looser side? What do you plan on revving this to?

If you do the math, 5 ft lbs of reduced drag is equal to an extra 5.71 hp at 6,000 and 7.14 hp at 7,500 rpm.
I'm planning to spin it as high as it wants to carry power. With this intake setup, I think it'll be all done by 7,500 at most. Once I go sheet metal I'll spin it to 8,000 without hesitation.

Interesting choice of parts on the build... cam specs surprised me with the large split. Nearly looked like it was spec for a rectangular port head.

The rest of the parts were all chosen to work together for this combination.

what sheemetal intake are you thinking about using? i've been tossing around the idea of doin a similar motor setup but am on the fence for an intake that won't require cutting the car up too much

I'm not sure who I'll choose to make one at the moment. I do know for sure I won't be buying an off the shelf intake or using any of the ebay chinese crap on the market. It'll be built specifically to optimize this combination. I'd consider a single plane, but like yourself I don't want to cut this car up. It's fairly rare and clean, plus I prefer to keep it looking the way the factory should have built it.

After a couple weeks of vacation and a little beach therapy, I'm back at it. The engine is about ready to go so I started tearing into the chassis. I've stripped everything out of the engine bay. I'll start filling holes soon.
The converter was shipped out to Lenny at Ultimate Converter Concepts yesterday and should arrive tomorrow. The transmission was dropped off at SS Transmission Tuesday as well. With any luck this will all still come together before LS Fest.
-I picked up some 4130 tubing today for the bumper support.
-Line lock and proportioning valve are on the way.
-HVAC delete panel is on the way. That'll get modified to retain heat.
-Wiring harness is out of the car so I can trim out the unnecessary crap and move some things around
-Wipers need to come out next
....and then onto the body work under the hood. Here's a few pics of progress. I'll try to update more often.

I have updates. The last few weeks have been crazy trying to balance work, this project, all the crap at home, operating another business, and having a kid in the hospital. I'm managing to get some stuff done though.
The engine bay is finally painted and I'm going to start doing some assembly. I filled all unnecessary holes and smoothed out what I could. The BMR HVAC delete panel was modified to retain heater function. I mounted the line lock and brake proportioning valve already and relocated the coils down on the frame rail where the sway bar used to be mounted. Everything has been mounted using rivet nuts, I don't do self tappers or sheet metal screws. The body work and paint is far from professional, but I feel with some sanding and finish work I can make it look pretty good.
The engine and trans are done, headers showed up Friday and converter showed up yesterday. So once I get the old engine off the K-member and my mounts arrive, I'll be able to drop the new powertrain onto the K-member and get it into the car. I'm hoping the fuel pump shows up sometime this week as well. I'm heading out Friday to pick up my new trailer as well, so it can arrive safely and clean at LS Fest.
On to the pics....

Update:
I unfortunately I did not make LS Fest this year. I was making great progress and on pace to be done right as planned, then my youngest daughter (4 years old) lost her battle with cancer on August 31st. I took a few weeks away to be with family and take care of things at home. Lately I've been having trouble finding motivation to get much of anything done, but have been able to make some more progress.
The engine and trans were moved up to the shop and assembled on the K-member with the new converter, Kooks headers, and polyurethane mounts. The engine harness was all finished and wrapped before I assembled everything on the k-member before dropping the body back on it. This is where it sits now. The new goal is to get it together by the first week of October to be at a street car shootout on October 8th.

man that is rough , I am so sorry to hear about your little girl.
In my experience after a big loss you need something to keep your mind occupied , better a car than a lot of other things you could turn to after such a major loss. I hope things go well for you with the car and with your home life.

Thanks for the kind words guys. It's been a rough road for a while and surely won't get better any time soon, but we're doing our best to stay busy. With any luck I'll get this thing done this week and be able to roll it over the dyno Friday night or Saturday morning then to the track Saturday night for some test hits before the weekend of the 8th.
I used a BMR HVAC delete panel, created an air passage in it, and mounted it outside of the firewall.
