4l60 vs th350 vs th400
Well, I just torched the 60e in my iroc. Unsure what failed yet, but it binds in all gears now.
So, I have a fresh th400 sitting here, with a 4500 stall, and a fresh th350 that can also use the 4500 stall. Car is 3200# race weight with 3.42 gears. Right now it has a 60e with a pt4000 stall and it leaves like a rocket. Currently with the steep first gear, it launches hard with the 3.42 gears.
I'm concerned it will be a turd off the line with either of the other two trans. Anyone running a th350 with a gear like mine? Most I see are running 4.10 or so.
Car is a heads cam ls1. Bigggggg Fti custom grind. Running a 26" et steet radial, will be spraying 150 shot as well.

I'm running a 27" radial with a th350 and a 4500 nitrous converter but I'm running a 4.10 gear. I've only ran on motor but it'll cut 1.4x 60ft and trap 106 all day in the 1/8 with an et of 6.7x as of now but still working on the setup and my car is probably a little heavier than yours and I only have 346 cubic inches. I was running 4.10's with a 60e before with a 4500 stall also and I gained across the board and will never go back. I will spray later (300-500 shot) and I'm sure the th350 will help keep the wheels on the ground more when launching due to the 1st gear ratio. I personally would go th350.

Thank you very much for the reply! So by changing nothing else, from the 4l60e to the th350 you gained across the board? That's encouraging. I've got a 3.73 gear set I could put in. Sounds like with my 26" radial and and the 350/3.73 it might be a perfect combo. My goal is 10's on motor

I'm considering the th350 just because it will consume slightly less hp, and has a slight better 1st gear. I have a huge cam, so I'm concerned with the 60' loosing that 3.06 first gear. I'll put in my 3.73 gears so that will help, but I'm just trying to make same passes before winter.

I'd go with a 400 over a 350 if the option is there.
There's more people out there that do 400's vs 350's (from what I've seen) and are much more robust.
Just please change the drum out for a billet one.

Driving it now for the first time, it's not bad. I can cruise 65 pretty decent with the 3.42's. Stall is supposed to be a 4500 but I don't think it is, I feel I lost a little 60' from the 60e. So far so good. I wish I knew what the stall was for sure. It's a 9.5" converter, no name, few numbers stamped into it. Called around, posted pictures. Was told it had a bullet cover from a guy online. Oh well

If you lost some 60, it's probably the stall more than anything. At the track is where you'll know for sure.

Absolutely love it. I've always had good luck with th350s. We've ran many 5 sec 1/8 mile passes on them. My current one has a bunch of dyno pulls, street miles, and probably 100 NA passes in the 6's. I hate a 60e and th400s and 80e are too heavy unless you're a huge hp car.
